Tiny Taylor

Recommended Posts

Now that the transfer window has closed what are your thoughts on the Tiny Taylor transfer saga. Was he ever going to sign for NCFC or has every one been  had over by Birmingham or is his sudden selection to play in the Birmingham first team all part of a long drawn out process of double bluffing? Answers on a post card please.

I think we should have signed him when we had the chance (assuming the fee was around the 1 million mark, the going rate for a proven central defender at this level.  As it happens, Birmingham did not find a replacement and at the last needed to keep him on due to injuries and the African Nations Cup.  Just a matter of timing.

Fortunatly for us Shax and Doc seem to be proving the doubters wrong at the moment.

At the end of the day I don''t think he was ever going to leave Brum until they had replaced him, so it ended up being a completely moot point whatever we bid and when we bid it.

Yes he is a decent player, but all the hysteria on this and other boards was just madness - it was if he was the be all and end all of football as we know it (which did rather forget that we lost 3 games with him in the side and haven''t lost one since he left us), and I for one am glad I stayed out of it!

[/quote]Erm . . . . the last news on the whole thing was that Norwich HAD upped their offer to £1million only for Brum to change their mind again! It was said about two or three weeks running on Canary call by Neill Adams. Ofcourse you don''t have to choose to accept that but that''s what the man said. That''s also what seems to be the vibe when you look into the whole debacle.

I don''t think we ever had the chance to sign him even if we''d met the asking price straight away, instead of at the end of the window. Brum were not going to let him go unless they had signed a replacement. Don''t forget QPR offered the full price and were knocked back, by the club or by Tiny we''ll never know.  Had they made the signings they were after I believe we would have got him.  Whether we get him in the summer will, of course, be down to Brum remaining in the Prem.  If they do they will be in a strong position to buy and therefore, with Tiny apparently at the bottom of the pecking order, he will probably be put up for sale at, hopefully, a reduced price.  If they go down I would think it more likely that the better, and pricier players will be jumping ship like the proverbial (money grabbing) rats and heading across town to WBA, should they make it.  Leaving, of course, the mighty Tiny to try and stabalise a weakened club, ergo..... NOT FOR SALE !!

Just a thought, could be completely off.[*-)]
