IS TAYLOR'S CONTRACT UP IN THE SUMMER???

Recommended Posts

If that is the case then no wonder were not upping our bid to £1m, he obviously is desperate to come here as he wants to raise his family in Norfolk and loved it here on his loan, so it makes no sense to pay even £750k if we can get him on a free in the summer.

I didn''t think it was. I was under the impression he signed a new 3 year contract with Birmingham last April. If thats true it''s strange that he''s hardly played since!

he signed the deal as part of a promotion winning side and first team regular.. he might of thought he had a chance... Brum can hold out for 2 more years for their million if they want to now

BLUES defender Martin Taylor today signed a new three-year contract, with an option for a further two years.

Manager Steve Bruce said it was a reward for the centre-half''s sterling performances this season - and in the recent past.

Taylor''s present deal was due to be up in the summer, although Blues did hold a 12-month option.

"Tiny''s done well for us for a couple of years now," said Bruce. "He became a bit frustrated because of the partnership of Kenny Cunningham-Matthew Upson, but he''s never let us down when he''s come in.

"This season, he has been terrific. But, certainly, in this division, it''s not a problem for him. He''s played most of his career in the Premiership, he''s proved he can do that. Tiny''s an excellent pro. He gives you no grief at all and he fully deserves this contract."

Taylor must have felt the worst when Bruce began the season with Olivier Tebily and Bruno N''Gotty as his first choice pairing.

But Taylor ensured he took his chance when it came and alongside Radhi Jaidi he has helped turn Blues defence into the meanest in the Championship.

Signed for £1.25 million from Blackburn Rovers three years ago, Taylor has even captained the side on a couple of occasions this term.
