Who's going down?

Recommended Posts

OK, I know these polls are 10-a-penny and don''t really mean very much (and have no bearing on what will actually happen), but who are the three teams who''ll be relegated this year?

I''m plumping for Colchester, Scunthorpe and Barnsley.

Far too early to say I would have thought considering that only eight points separate the 15th from the 24th and with 18 or 19 games to play who knows?  Good run or bad run by any of the clubs right up to the playoff places could drastically alter the table.  I don''t think anyone is safe apart from those at the very top.

Bottom 10 in the championship.

Columns : team, Pts, Pts from last 6 matches (from here).

Barnsley       34    3
Blackpool     32 - 10
Coventry    - 32 - 4
Norwich     - 31 - 10
Leicester   - 30 - 8
QPR         - 30 - 10
Sheffield W - 28 - 4
Preston     - 27 - 9
Colchester  - 26 - 6
Scunthorpe  - 26 - 4

Current form suggests that Sheff W, Colchester and Scunny need to improve radically to avoid being cut adrift.  4 teams with 9 points or better suggests that a team or 2 from mid-table could drop into relegation trouble, Coventry and Barnsley likely candidates.  Leicester and QPR have spent too much to get dragged into trouble, and I think we''re strong enough to stay in mid-table too.

I''d say that it will be 3 from Sheff Wed, Preston, Scunny, Col U, and Cov.
