RYAN BERTRAND

Recommended Posts

I thought this young player looked good when he came on against Bury; plenty of pace; a decent and early ball into the box and a good engine. I think Glenn has done well to bring a player to the Club clearly ready for the step up to Championship football and at 18 surprisingly mature.

Yes, it is just 45 minutes against Bury but the lad looks like a player and it will be interesting to see how he goes. For me, he got the ball in better and earlier than Hucks did - so may threaten Hucks place on the left if paired up with Mo. I particularly liked the way he cut inside, he looks for the space then goes for it.

It seems that Roeder brings in loans with the intent to play them and he is increasingly looking for young players. The man is trying to build a dynasty based on up and coming young players and based on a passing game but unlike Wenger has some dead wood to shift plus needs time to develop others.

Roeder will save us this season but will need time - and with time will bring us back to the golden thread that leads to Ron Greenwood and with which: through Bond and Brown we made our name as a footballing team.

The other thing is it helps us to get loans in the future. It sends out a good message to the top teams with youngsters that need loaning that Norwich is a good club to come to. Where they can learn and progress, I think it is a shame that this so far has only been achieved speradicaly(sp). Two examples from the past are:- Scott Parker- David BentlyWho both came in on loan and less than 6months later were first team regulars. In Bently''s case we gave Arsenal an increase in his value before he was sold to Blackburn where he has really produced.Scott Parker has been troubled by injuries but is a quality footballer - since he has been in the side for the Hammers they have had a new lease of life.

I was very impressed by Ryan Bertrand as well .

Very fast and put some great balls across to our miss - firing strikers.

I would like to see him playing in the same team as Ched Evans I think they would do well together. Thats if Evans is allowed to come back to us. Whats happening there?

You can have some fun thinking about the sort of team we might have now if we hadn''t sold specific players and signed those that we had on loan permanently over the past few years...

David Bentley and Scott Parker in midfield-maybe a midfield 4 of Huckerby-Francis-Parker-Bentley?

Ashton and Earnshaw in attack, with Crouch an option on the bench?

Tiny and Callum Davenport in central defence.

Greeno still in goal.

Bertrand at left back, Helveg at right back....though maybe he''s a bit past it now, perhaps go for an evergreen Edworthy instead!

Bothroyd as Manager with Hunter as Assistant, Malky one of the coaches.....

Steady on!!!

I agree Ryan Bertrand did look quite good when on the ball, but with him playing left back I''m not sure he would be able to diplace Mo Camara due to Mo''s superior experience, he looks a little bit lightweight at the moment I''m not sure he has enough mass and may get mussled off the ball too easily when up against championship players I did not see him having to do much defending on saturday, he may be better suited to playing left midfield he certainly seems to have good pace and close ball control to take on defenders.  Time will tell on this one the signs are good thought.  OTBC
I was quite impressed by Ryan........Hope we see him playing full games and that he''s not a consistent bencher.
I get the feeling Glenn doesn''t bring these new players in to have them sat around. I think it''s the players he inherited who will be benchwarmers[8-|]
