Evening Shaker from Gigg Lane, always nice to hear from our opponents! As long as they''re polite, and it''s not the scum...I reckon a rather conservative 2-0 win for us, fairly easy and average game, comfortable overall but a slog at times (we''re usually carp in the fa cup too).As for pubs, if you''re getting the train down from Manchester (I''ve made the return visit only today, boooooring!) then come straight out of the station and over the road to the Compleat Angler, a nice pub with good beer that generally becomes an away fans'' haven on match days... Though you''ll probably find the city folk in many establishments amiable, provided you don''t act an arse...Have fun, and good luck Saturday! But not too much, eh....? [;)]

[/quote]my wish is for a city second string to take the field and produce a good ole ding-dong cup-tie.  i''d rather the first team boys concentrated on the league .  think lloyds on riverside is an away pub.  also at carra rd, you''ll enjoy the match pies - supplied by a factory up your way i believe.

Hi Shaker

There is a guide on this very website for away fans I believe. There are many opportunities for you around the ground, depending on what sort of bar you prefer.

Across the road from the ground is an area known as Riverside, where there are the usual chain bars, you may have trouble wearing an away shirt though, their policies vary.

There is a designated away pub on the bridge opposite the train station called the Complete Angler. Mixture of real ales, lager and wines and the rest, good food too. A nice little pub. If you want to mix with the City fans walk up the road from the station (called Thorpe Road) and there is another fine pub called the Coach and Horses. A real character pub which brews it''s own ale. Just ask (or follow city fans) for directions. If you are parking at County Hall, follow the road called Bracondale for a while and you will find a number of excellent pubs, the Rose, the Cricketers'' Arms and the Kings'' Arms.

I am sure you can get directions for all of these on the internet, but if you want more detailed directions, just ask.

Hope you have an enjoyable day out in Norwich, and we don''t regard this as a pushover by any means. We are not at our best in the cup matches!

alrite shaker

I am a Norwich fan who was born and raised in Bury so I''ll be happy to help you out.

Sadly for the shakers I too can only predict a win for Norwich given the current form of the two teams but its the FA Cup and anything could happen. Saying that I saw the shakers beat Leeds at Elland Road (I live there) recently in the St Johnstones Trophy. They played really well and desrved their win. Hopefully they wont repeat that performance on Sat.

In terms of pubs, Im sure you would be welcome in most around the ground but I would just follow the white shirts if I were you.

Hello there yourself.

Three pubs near the ground - the Coach and Horses, the Jubilee and the Rosary Tavern, all worth a look.  Later, if you''re still standing, a taxi to the Fat Cat should finish you off.  You won''t get any trouble off the Norwich fans, we''re a decent enough lot and respect the fact you''ll have travelled nigh on 300 miles to see two fairly mediocre teams scrapping out a long ball fest.

I''d expect a tight game, maybe 1 or 2-0 to City.

Can u sit down please-

If you enjoyed Scores then dont bother going into Yellows its carp in its full form. Lots of black, white and grey with a long bar, stone floor....

I dont really like it tbh, we need a new Scores somewhere

Thanks everyone, I''m in the car - though thankfully not driving - so will hopefully be a bit squiffy before the match - though not too bad.

As for us - around 500 tickets sold so far according to our message board - www.themightyshakers.co.uk/forum - though there may be around 1000 come Saturday.

We took 1800 to Leeds when we stuffed them earlier this season, cant see there being that many cos of the distance involved.

Looking forward  to this one though, but our big game is two days later when we go to Morecambe in the Semi Final of the Johnstone''s Paints Pot Trophy Flip Flop cup thing

It''s interesting how the two words crap and carp can so easily be mistaken for each other. I have often been browsing in WH Smiths when my eyes are drawn to a rather specialist little magazine entitled Carp Fishing, and do you know, nearly every time I have misread it as Crap Fishing. Quite ironic that.

Yes.....it is quite iconic reading some words that one occasionally can misread.
