Sad indeed. A great servant of the Club for many years.

Ken was the No1 when I first attended Carrow Rd in the early 1950''s. In my opinion he is right up there with Kevin Keelan as the best of City keepers that I have seen. He was not as flashy as the great Kev, but as safe as any keeper to wear City colours

I will never forget his wonderful back flip save from a Bobby Smith header in the 5th round F.A. Cup replay in 1959. It looked a goal all the way until he arched backwards and somehow smuggled the ball over the bar.

RIP Ken. It was a priviledge to watch you play. We won''t see your like again.

Oh dear that is so sad, we lose yet another of our famous cup-run team.

One of our best ever goalkeepers, even played on with a dislocated shoulder, what a man !

For me,the highlight of Ken''s career (and also the end of it) was dislocating his shoulder in the 58/59 6th round FA cup tie v sheffield Utd and not only playing on but also pulling out some great saves to maintain that historic cup run. How brave was that ?

Never flash but always safe, a truly great keeper, will be sadly missed.

I missed out on watching Ken Nethercott play for Norwich but have heard so much about him from those who saw him. He is part of our great clubs folklore especially for playing on with a dislocated shoulder and still saving everything that was thrown at him.

RIP from me as well.  I saw him play a few times in my youth and I agree he was a safe, sound keeper.

Re injured goalkeepers playing on: it happened to George Farm (Blackpool and Scotland) in a game once when there was none of this substitution stuff - so someone else went in goal and George came out on the field - and scored!

The first of my great Norwich City goalkeepng heros, as a kid in my home knitted green roll neck goalkeeper''s jersey I was Ken Nethercott when playing on the local meadow. In my opinion we have probably the best linage of goalkeepers in the league starting with Ken. RIP Ken my condolances to his family.

One of the greats , you always were safe in my mind when you had Ken in goal . as some have said before he was never flash , but a very safe keeper , thanks for the memories Ken R.I.P.    arrdee.

I was at Bramwell Lane that day he done his shoulder, but he played on one handed at times (remember no subs in those days) A true City legend in every sense of the word.

He was a bit before my time, although occasionally socialising with the more seasoned support and when discussing NCFC and our past greats.....they all spoke highly of the late Ken Nethercott.

Like BlyBly, Ken was my first City keeper. I was also at Bramall Lane for that never to be forgotten cup-tie and the heroic performance by Ken, who now goes to join his comrades from that time Bryan Thurlow, Ron Ashman, Barry Butler and Bobby Brennan. Goodness me, that''s just about half of that wonderful team. When the weather gets warmer I will watch the shape of the clouds and try to imagine Ken protecting the net.

I remember watching Ken, I think I''m correct in saying that although he played for us 10 years he was never awarded a testimonial. Perhaps the club could redress this now as a mark of respect either a collection at one of the games or a pound on a ticket if we progress in the cup.

Nethercott was before my time too, but clearly one of the club''s most significant figures. The beginning of a long line of wonderful keepers: Nethercott, Keelan, Woods, Gunn, Green.

I never saw Ken play, but all the old fans then used to say what a keeper he was.

His understudy, Sandy  Kennon was the 1st keeper i saw as a fan at Carrow Road and since we''ve been blessed with a succession of brilliant keepers. (Keelan, Woods,Gunn, Green and Marshall) The futures looking bright for young Joe Lewis to carry on the tradition.
