team ratings for tonight

Recommended Posts

team - 6/10.  we looked jaded after derby heroics, watford were the more athletic, skilful and better side - but they had the benefit of 24hours extra rest. at least we played with heart, and never gave up but worryingly, if all were giving their best - it shows the side isn''t good enough - simple as.  marshall - 5/10.  weak at near post for their second goal??? is this fair and correct???semmy - 6/10.  ok performance - looks like he''s lacking confidence.lappin- 6/10 caught nappin too often - outpaced for 1st goal.  set piece deliveries were total naff tonight - roeder should keep him behind until 4 p/m each day practicing them until he can do ''em blindfold - and that goes for croft too - this numpty must learn how to put a dangerous ball over if his career is ever going to progress.shax - 6/10 had trouble all night controlling henderson - not strong enough.  taylor - 7/10 - looked the part again, but did he let henderson get in front for watford 2nd goal??? if so 6/10 - if shax - 5/10russell - 7/10  - not upto sunday''s best, felt he had too much to do on his own.brellier - 4/10 - had a shocker - looked a yard off the pace from the word go.  if he is playing upto the level of his best ability/fitness, then sorry its not good enough.  smith - 5/10 nprobably didn''t help playing wide right, but thought he looked lightweight - he scored loads for QPR last year from midfield - can''t see how.  maybe needs 2/3 more gaomes to get match fit.chadders  5/10 - some good touches now and then, again probably didn''t help playing on the left wing.  like brellier, looked knackered from the ipswich match to me.curo - 6/10 - ran his heart out - how many times is he going to get offside though - looked offside from his pass for croft to score???  needs better service - still lacking confidence.  imohartson  5/10 - felt sorry for the bloke - in the death throes of his career - cheered when he was subbed by the crowd - shouldn''t be here, or even playing. brown  5/10 as usual, outmuscled, no threat - can''t remember a single flick on going to a yellow shirt.  no chances off/on target.  league 1 player for me.martin 5/10 - probably didn''t help playing on the right - showed some nice touches to link play up - no efforts on goal from memory???  not the answer this time to save our bacon.croft  6/10 - as usual gave 100% and got a goal - where''s the quality though???  hasn''t a clue of how to create a chance for other players - which is iffy - given he''s supposed to be a creative player on the wing.  hux  minus300/10 - thats for getting sent off in the last minute on sunday, but at least he''s proved a point - were a poorer side without him.  if we can get him 100% and his head in the right place, he could help us to stay up, make no mistake.

Marshall 5 - maybe unlucky for second goal but his kicking wasn''t great.

Otsemobor 4 - Useless defensively and not much better going forward.

Taylor 5 - Generally was pretty steady but not fantastic.

Shackell 2 - a total liability. Never seemed to want the ball and got rid of it ASAP.

Lappin 3 - Awful. Set pieces were atrocious and defensively was caught out several times. May have actually done us a favour if he was sent off for shouting abuse at the linesman rather than getting just a booking.

Smith 3 - Ineffective, lightweight and played out of position. Not a great combination.

Brellier 2 - A total liability. Can''t pass, tackle or run. Come back Andy Hughes, all is forgiven.

Russell 4 - Worked hard but has the first touch of a baby elephant.

Chadwick 6 - Our best player until he was taken off. Looked industrious and always tried to get at their defence.

Cureton 4 - Worked hard but was ineffective and possibly broke the world record for being caught offside so many times in a match.

Hartson 4 - Pretty ineffective, had little impact against their defence.

Subs:

Croft 3 - scored but was out of position and didn''t do much otherwise.

Martin 3 - again, out of position and was almost totally anonymous.

Brown 3 - no threat at all.

Overall, dreadful. They closed us down, played a high line, were physical and played to their strengths. We were the total opposite.

russell - 7/10  - not upto sunday''s best, felt he had too much to do on his own.

brellier - 4/10 - had a shocker - looked a yard off the pace from the word go.  if he is playing upto the level of his best ability/fitness, then sorry its not good enough.

Gotta agree with that. Rusty pretty much played central midfield by himself. Was very disappointed with Brellier after his good showing against Ipswich he let himself down and Rusty had to fight the midfield battle on his own.

team - 5/10.  we looked jaded after derby heroics,

watford were the more athletic, skilful and better side - but they had the

benefit of 24hours extra rest. at least we played with heart, and never gave up

but worryingly, if all were giving their best - it shows the side isn''t good

enough - simple as.   - Couldn''t put it better myself LGT.

marshall - 4/10.  Poor game. Made the mistake for the 2nd, killer goal.

His kicking was near awful. Bascially made hartson even more out of the game.

semmy - 6/10.  Good performance. good running and guts. Needs the boost of

confident players around him.

lappin- 5/10 One good game, one awful game. Consistency is not his game. Slow

and out of the game too often. Not strong enough to impose himself on the

forwards and wingers. Set pieces were very poor today.

shax - (first half 9/10, second half 4/10) Yeah, strange I know. Was very good

against marlong king. I mean he bascially cancelled out his threat all first

half and pushed him further and further back. Second half he ended up marking

henderson, no contest, no strength and struggled woefully. Poor marking at the

first goal, but hey, it didn''t matter, we were really wide open.

taylor - 7/10 - looked the part again. He was very good in the air. I think he

was supposed to be marking the near post goal, but it was a good set piece and

I thought he put off the watford player enough to see it as a weak header,

shame marshall ballsed it up.

russell - 7/10  - Very good. Put in soo much effort and tackles but alas

on his own, overwhelmed and had no chance, this guy needs a partner.

brellier - 3/10 - Awful, so slow, made mahon look like linford christie. This

guy is make weight, one good game hasn''t made him good. He is just too slow for

the english game and never will be quick enough. 10 yards off everyone, he even

gave hartson a waddle for his money

smith - 4/10 why is he out wide on the right? I thought he operated best in the

middle. Didn''t matter he was ineffective and looked poor, lazy and didn''t care.

Not what we need.

chadders  6/10 - A 6 merely because he was our most threatning player and

huffed and puffed the most. Good running but never the final ball. He could be

a star but I feel he''ll end up doing nothing.

curo - 6/10 - Ran and ran, not off-side as many times as the linesman flagged.

His goal looked off side, difficult from the river end. But needs a partner.

hartson  -6000/10 - Sorry hartson, it''s a shame your career will end on

such a sad note after such a good earlier career. Just so lazy, slow and

overwight. I can''t see him ever coming back. He won''t be played again methinks

brown  5/10 Not strong enough, not quick enough, not good enough. Yeah

loads of effort but where''s all the play? No where that''s where.

martin 6/10 - Why is he on the right?!!!! He is a striker. If he was 30 yards

up the pitch, he would have scored. No point on the right. Loverly turns and

runs and looked dangerous. He should give up at this club, this is a no starter

for him. If he wants to end up like jarvis and hendo it''s going the right way.

croft  6/10 - as usual gave 100% and got a goal - where''s the quality

though???  hasn''t a clue of how to create a chance for other players -

which is iffy - given he''s supposed to be a creative player on the wing.

- well summed up LGT

marshall - 5/10.  Not impressed by him so far, makes too many mistakes and his all round game seems dodgy to me.

semmy - 6/10.  Tried hard but looks let down by his colleagues.  Didnt link at all with Smith.

lappin- 5/10    Put the effort in but done by their winger time and time again. Set pieces were very poor today.  He should be a squad player not a first team regular.

shax - 7/10 - I thought he did well against a very potent strikeforce.

taylor - 7/10 - Did OK but still looks like he needs games.

russell - 6/10  - Tried hard, not a great foil for Brellier.  Not great attackingwise.

brellier - 4/10 - He is like Safri without Safri''s passing skills??  Grant said he signed Brellier to play further up the pitch, in fact he plays deeper than Safri ever did...

smith - 3/10 awful and slow, kept drifting inside to his more natural position.  As usual WHY play him out right when he is a central player?  Croft should have started.

chadders  7/10 - Not bad from Chadwick, again not as good on the left as the right but he had to play there.  Was often the most forward player in the first half as Hartson lagged behind...

curo - 6/10 - Christ how many times was he caught offside...  Other than that didnt do badly considering the lack of service.

hartson  2/10 - totally off the pace today, hopeless, reguarly Chadwick was making up the numbers up top as Hartson lagged behind.  Certainly of no use if the opposition play a high line against us.

Subs:

brown  6/10 He wins some headers he lays the ball off but it never seems to hit a yellow shirt??

martin 5/10 - Started ok but utter rubbish when moved to the wing.

croft  7/10 - Did well, scored a goal, but unfortunatly made a good run down the left which prompted Roeder to switch him their after which he was crap.

manager:

Roeder 5/10 - poor starting team and poor substitutions and tactical changes.
