new manager effect....what new manager effect????????

Recommended Posts

typical of city, the ''new manager effect'' lasts one game with us - and that was only enough to secure a draw - so roeder has 1 point out of 9.  at the very least - it corrrectly shows the squad we have is weak, poor and has league 1 written all over it, something adams alluded to on radio naaarrfolk phone in.so its blindingly obvious to all - the players are just not good enough.  and yes, because of our plight, we will have to pay over the odds to attract the quality players in we need to mount a credible relegation escape - yep a premium on top of their normal wage - else why would anyone in their right mind want to come here???  easier to let glen down by blaming your missus - ''well roedy, i would come and help you out of a tight spot mate....but the missus don''t fancy a move before crimbo'' - she''s stacked out with shopping commitments/parties you see....

There is only one answer to this - loan players in who are too ugly to attract a mate, and are therefore happy to spend 9 months at Dunston Hall and every Thursday on the Prince of Wales road in the forlorn hope of finding a woman drunk enough and under 40.  Earnshaw''s not playing much at the moment is he ?  Mind you, it didn''t work out with Hartson did it.

im just waiting for a poster (lets take guesses at who) to start a roeder out thread....

we cant blame Glen Roeder for the ineptitude, short sightedness and naivety of the board.

Hopefully our new mnager effect will come after the January window, by then hopefully Roeder will have 5/6 new faces and will have shipped some of the rubbish out somehow. Until then we are left with an injury ravaged squad, with Grant''s signings mostly dreadful.

The worry is that if we went down, our squad isnt good enough to get out of it once you lose a couple of players. I cant see Chris Brown being prolific, or lappin and otsemobor standing out and we''d still need a better midfield!

How the hell has this happened!

Marshall - a keeper supposed to be amongst the best in the league

Otsemobor - A decent league 1 club''s best player last season

Shackell - A decent defender, who could handle the premiership usually

M Taylor - Seemed good on his debut, and has played over 100 premiership games, and should now be at his prime

Drury - Once the best left back outside the prem and once even a decent enough prem left back, what now!

Russell - One of the decent box to box players in the league

Chadwick - The once bright youngster should now at least be still good enough at this level, as he was before he came here

Croft - Seems that Man City got lucky getting rid of him

Brellier - Supposed to have come to us with a high reputation, after beating premiership teams to his signature

Huckerby - Our best player for a few years now, and while his pace may be going, the once not so long ago, best player in this league should be doing better!

Cureton - Scored 24 championship goals last year, now has 3 after a third of the season!

Brown/Strihavka - Crap

Martin - A 6 game wonder last year, has done nothing since

Fotheringham - looked to have been the only improving one, and then got injured

Lappin - Looks about as good as the £100k he was bought for (not all bad)

Doherty - Now from just having pace as a weakness, he seems to have none, and no confidence either

Murray - The once first team rangers player is in a word, CRAP

Smith - Has done nothing since he arrived

Spillane, Ro Jarvis - Haven''t quite made the step up, something common in our youngsters these days!

So, can someone enlighten me please, what the hell has grant done to these players pre season! Put them on a diet of Pie''s and Kebab''s!

PLEASE DEAR GOD GET SHOLA TO OUR CLUB QUICK! We''re desperate

on a bright note, Smart and Ry Jarvis are doing well, ON LOAN AT OTHER CLUBS!

[/quote]ok - see your point re supposed quality of city squad on paper.  and sure, pre-season i was hopeful of city making strides forward.  on paper - there were some potentially hopeful signings.but to get perspective - lets look at the leeds squad, same stage last year early november V barnsley.Stack, Kelly, Butler, Kilgallon, Lewis, Douglas (Einarsson 87), Derry,

Westlake (Johnson 80), Blake, Horsfield (Cresswell 62), Healy. Subs:

Warner, Foxe.healy, horsfield, blake, cresswell, westlake, lewis, butler???  you''ve gotta say theres some reasonable performers in there at champs level, (blake scored against us this season, but then he always does) - healy - now in the prem.  horsfield was fading, but had bags of experience.  butler - been round the block and should''ve been rock solid at the back.probably, this leeds side was too good to go down on paper???  but they did, and on the back of some abject displays.just as forest did before them, and leeds did last season, city have a squad of players who are collectively playing below their individual ability on paper.  against ipswich, we saw another side to the team.  but 1 performance from 16 isn''t much to crow about.  to serve up another ''no show'' today smack of a team who have given up - are sleepwalking to disaster.  quite honestly, they can huddle as much as they like pre-match, but on the pitch they''re playing with little belief.its a shock that numbing.  i don''t want to believe its happening to NCFC.  we shouldn''t be in this position - but we are.

A couple of good posts these.

We can argue about Delia, the Board,Doomcaster till the cows come home, but the fact remains that this squad,as a whole,is VASTLY underperforming. They are capable of mid-table ,minimum. The comparison with Leeds is a fair and accurate one.To carry on this depressing theme,in the case of Ipswich, they are the complete opposite.Their squad is  full of journeymen, has beens, rejects, and untried kids, but they are vastly over-achieving. It pains me to say it,but good luck to them.

Whilst it is true that there are a few people in the NCFC squad who are simply not good enough, the great majority are either not committed enough or not consistent enough. It remains to be seen whether Roeder can get anyone in who is decent enough to either make a difference themselves,or at least concentrate the minds of those already here.Personally,I can''t see anyone of that calibre wanting to come here. But we shall see.
