PhatCanary 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Not to sound to melodramatic but has anyone else got a feeling of utter despair this morning, i woke up and immediately felt a wave of imponderable depression and helplessness, i have followed this club through the good and the bad for 25 odd years but this seasons shambles is really starting to get to me, i fear that we have gone beyond the point of help and that relegation this season is already nailed on, my god, when the players came out after half time testerday most had their heads down walked slowly onto the pitch an looked beaten before they had even kicked a ball, are things really that bad in the dressing room and behind the scenes? I don''t think it matters who the manager is going to be, this clubs problems run deeper than just a poor run of form, this once great and proud club is slowly destroying itself and god thats a hard thing to watch. I have never seen so many angry, upset and confused fans at Carrow Road ever as i did yesterday and the fact that 24,125 of us turned out again yesterday speaks volumes about the passion this clubs supporters have, it''s a pitty that some of the board and players don''t share that same passion then we might not be in this sad position. 0peteddMMyyyy0Falseen-USTrue 0 Posted October 21, 2007 What was really depressing was that I bought ticket for Bristol C just after Southampton thinking we may do ok, and I had to go but did leave on 75 mins missed our goal and two of theirs, that would have been depressing. Left early cos I needed to be somewhere.

Buncey 1 Posted October 21, 2007 I missed the last goal. Glad really, had a few places to be before the rugby was on and it was clear that the players were sunk.I noticed that the players were really down when they came out at half time, but I also noticed more seriously that they didn''t even run out at the start of the match. They just walked onto the field looking glum. Not good days, a new manager here has a lot of work to do. I really cannot understand why we didn'' get someone in last week. When a new manager had a whole week to work with the players. It was clearly wasted. I am scared for this club.
Reggie Strayshun 0 Posted October 21, 2007 What has been written in this thread just about sums up my feelings too.Over the past few years I''ve spent an arm and a leg, both money and time-wise organising trips back to Norfolk to see some games.Recently I just feel it has been a waste of time.I really do not look forward to coming back these days, and have, like Fellas, got real worries about what the future holds for City, but do not feel proud to say that I cannot justify all the money /time involved in attending matches. No doubt I''ll get pilloried from certain quarters for being faint hearted and a part timer, but until this mess is sorted out, then I''m not going to continue to waste my dosh and time. I honestly believe that until people start voting with their feet in this manner, then the powers that be at CR will not get the message loud and clear ,and, more importantly, act on it. I feel most sorry for the youngsters for whom this is their early and important impression of the club and who could so easily drift away if the "habit" isn''t deeply entrenched. This club genuinely needs to be very careful because if they lose the loyalty and enthusiasm of the generation coming on...they (or whoever will be unfortunate enough to inherit this mess) will be scratching around for gate money for decades to come.....and it''s not as if there aren''t many other rewarding ways to spend your Saturday afternoons is there?..... Blainsey 2 Posted October 21, 2007 its true....since we lost O''Neill my enthusiasm (as hard as i have tried not to let it) has just waned away. Fed up with appointing dismal managers, the vast majority of our signings in the last 15 years have been uninspiring even before they have kicked a ball (how many of you sat up with glee when Murray was signed?) selling our best players year after year after year, and just the same old stories of fiances cropping up again and again. In the early 1990s I used to get so passionate about the club, if i couldnt get to the game i would sit with my ear glued to 5 live, the youngsters coming through were actually talented and we could compete with the best clubs in the country.I really want to get this enthusiasm back and it could well start with the appointment of a great/proven manager, who brings in a talented back-room staff, new loan players arrive as they want to play for this guy and we start to challenge and make people sit up and take notice of our club! Buncey 1 Posted October 21, 2007 I dread to think it but if things don''t improve and we still have the fool duffy in charge I might not go to the derby. How sad is that really? The most important match of the season and I am being driven to not go there and support the team. Sigh.
lucky green trainers 0 Posted October 21, 2007 lets put it this way, i swapped seats to go with the missus - easily got seats in the jarrold - ok row G, not great but close to the action. got the tickets on wed - still plenty around. there was no real appetite from the dead-necks around me for a relegation fight - the geezer in front had ear-peices in the whole match - really soaked up the atmosphere, not!most supporters are down, fed up and fatalistic - there''s no fight, no gumption. still it must be worse at ipswich, how the hell has sheepshankers survived for so long??? there''s no atmosphere, not like our prem relegation season. we seem to sleepwalking our way into league 1 at the mo, and if the board are keen on dufferman, that''s where we''ll probably end up.the final league positions will tell it how it is - make no mistake. MightyYellows50 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Fellas, we won''t be attending the derby, Saturday just really showed me that if the players can''t be bothered for a full 90 minutes, then why the hell should we. I have reached breaking point, not with the team but the board.I am both angry and sad beyond words right now

PhatCanary 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Just to add to my depression my son came home from a trip to the City with my folks, and they had bought him a pair of Man Utd gloves for the winter, what are they trying to do to me, push me over the edge!!!
gazzathegreat 0 Posted October 21, 2007 I think the worst thing is not knowing how long it will take for the board to wake up to just how serious this mess is. Sure they have admitted to making mistakes, but those mistakes are now about to kick us into oblivion if they don''t decide soon on a new and football based strategy/business plan.Prudence with ambition, refitting offices before a sustained search for a credible midfield, failing managers not getting the boot soon enough, majority shareholders with too much power but not enough knowledge of the real business - football. There is just so much to take in and all the while we sink they go on about quality applicants and how well Norwich is thought of outside Norfolk. I doubt anyone thinks of us - and if they do it will be to pity us. No one thinks we play good football anymore, it''s not "the only team to win away in Munich" it''s "let''s be having you" and "6-0 at Fulham".As Cluck says, what chance have the young fans got? What ten year old kid is going to want to come back next year. Some of us do because we don''t know any better and there is always hope. Something might just happen to turn us around. We might wake up next week and find Paul Jewell at a press conference (ambition!!) - we might find some "idiot" to buy Delia''s shares. We might find that our players can suddenly - well - play!It is tough and it''s made worse by seeming to be so powerless, just as most of us are mere supporters, some of us with token shares, but we can''t do much except support the players on the pitch (as best we can) and continue to find out what levels of incompetence there really are at board level. I ain''t giving up. Hope I am not alone.

Hairy Canary 753 Posted October 22, 2007 I''m afraid I feel just the same as you Phatcanary. I too have been going to Carrow Road for almost 30 years and I can honestly say that I have never felt so lacking in confidence as I do now. What I find so gloomy is that I can''t see how even a good proven manager is going to be able to turn it around. The squad is poor, we have no money and we can''t even sell anyone for decent cash to generate change. On top of that the players have never looked so low as they did on Saturday, the 3rd goal was just total abject surender. To put the cherry on the top I have absolutely no confidence that the board will appoint anyone with have the personality to turn things around and if they get this one wrong there is only one way we are going. I can just see the cry from the board if we are relegated, "Our financial prudence has guaranteed that the best supporters in the world will still have a club to support for the foreseeable future, unlike all those poor souls whose clubs have gone to the wall......" You really couldn`t make it up.
