Can we stop worrying about the next manager until the borad has gone.

Recommended Posts

Ireally do feel that there is no point in looking for the right person at present with the board we have. Their past appointments have been terrible and Delia and MWJ seem to think they are the best people to make the appintment. Doesnt she remember that when she joined she freely admitted to knowing nothing about football. Lets keep efforts and pressure on the board. They really shouldnt be let off for the mess we are in. They are happy to see Grant take the blame at the minute whilst I am pretty sure they have no plans for a new manager. They dont often plan ahead.

No he doesn''t. Robert is spot on in his analysis.

Smith has fouled up on many occasions since ''saving us from bankruptcy'' with her high minded interference, stubbornness and poor decisions on the footballing side. For someone who as Robert said admitted that she knew nothing about football it didn''t take her long to start meddling.

[/quote] She''s really not alone in that is she YR? What does Doncaster know? Or Munby? etc etc etc. All they know is that somehow they have all ended up running our club for us. To have Delia admit she knew nothing was honest, but shortsighted. Their first appointment should have been to install as a Director an ex manager of pedigree, someone who had won things and taken clubs through the leagues and gave good sound advice. Shame they didn''t start with this appointment, though it''s not too late to make it now. He doesn''t have to have played for or managed us in the past, but someone who knows the game inside out and can get them to focus on the pitch, not beyond it.

They did in fairness recognise their lack of footballing knowledge, and get Dave Stringer to help with the interview process.

The directors / owners / board also need to get be able to work with the manager, there is no point getting a great manager who leaves after 6 months as it was obvious there was no working relationship.

The idea of getting advice may have been a good one, but he''s been out of the game for 20 odd years now and things have changed immensely, right idea, wrong person.
