The only CC club with 2 old boys in England squad

Recommended Posts

That''s us. David Bentley and Peter Crouch.

And incredibly it ought to be 4, yes 4.  Robert Green just edged out & Dean Ashton withdrawn due to injury.

Not a squad for friendlies, but the real thing for crucial European qualifiers.

Signs of what might have been.

Who bottled it?

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Bentley and Crouch were loans, Green was "just edged out" because he isn''t good enough (yet - until that move to Arsenal), which just leaves the perma-crock Ashton, and I worry that we''ll never see what he''s capable of. He certainly heasn''t been great value for money for WHU so far. It looks with hindsight as if we sold him at just the right time.

Yep always said that we kick started Peter Crouch''s career. Stuck in the reserves when we took him on, now look were he is. Playing for Liverpool and in the England squad.

I think you have got that one wrong Bly Bly Babes. Using your criteria of  including loan players, there are three other CCC and even three league 1 clubs with old boys in the current squad:

Watford: James & A Young

Charlton: Carson & L Young

Palace: Johnson & A Cole

Leeds: Ferdinand, Carson, Robinson and Smith

Notts Forest: Terry & Wright Phillips

Bournemouth: Defoe & Ferdinand

bentley had to calm down- he wouldnt be nearly good enough otherwise but hughes channeled his anger and did a bellamy with him.ashton. always bloody inured, like a cannon if you put ball to feet.green, good keeper, only annoyance with him is that he turned down a move to charlton which would have seen us make 2m and get stefan andersonand crouch.......would not have developed with us as he did with liverpool.

You are right about Ashton. He will never be fit enough to be a success in the game even though he has the ability. He has huge injury problems at his young age now so there is no way he will still be playing at 30.
