Asobi Seksu 0 Posted October 16, 2007 What makes you think this?
Old Shuck 183 Posted October 16, 2007 Pure and simple. No to both.Appointing Duffy-and thus perpetuating a failed regime-would cause some discontent!Royle has been out of theg ame for far too long, and is too "old school"-as well as a short term option. Now that- thank God- Pulis appears to have been ruled out, the smart money seems to be on Martin Allen, though I would go for Paul Ince myself-although he has also effectively ruled himself out. And can''t blame him! I think its looking more and more likely it''ll be Allen.
25overpar 0 Posted October 16, 2007 I sincerely hope, and don''t think it will be Duffy. My reason for thinking this is that I believe the board are fully aware of how thin the ice is regarding the opinion of the supporters. They know they cannot afford to make another mistake. Even if they thought that Duffy would do a good job, I don''t believe they will risk it on the basis that the supporters will be up-in-arms before he even gets a chance to prove the board right. As for Royal, what did he do wrong at Ipswich? He got far better results than us and on a shoestring. He lost his best players because they needed the money, but brought on the youngsters. I agree, he wouldn''t be my first choice but I would rather see him appointed than most of the other names currently being mentioned (excluding Paul Jewell & Steve Bruce of course). To entice the fan''s perception of a ''Top Man'' to a club in the bottom three of the Championship is, if possible at all going to cost a serious amount of money. The question is will the Turners bankroll it along with the war chest he will undoubtably want guaranteed for team strengthening.

JohnoBono 0 Posted October 16, 2007 I reckon that this is the duff of nightmares, and it will be a right royal mess.Be warned. If certain people on the Board get their way Duffy will be manager, believe me.
