Hi, this is my first post on here! I was absolutly shocked and disgusted to see norwich players in mercy VIP (of course) until the late hours on thursday/friday morning. Like the rest of us they r only human but when ure sitting in the relegation zone then i think it is an absolute disgrace, especially when fans like myself would see them!! its an embarrassment to the club and it shows a total lack of respect for me towards the fans who turn out week in, week out to watch the * that is occuring at present!! what is everyone elses thoughts??

We all like to go out and have a few beers now and again. Maybe they were celebrating one of their birthdays or something like that. If they had the day off after their night out, i don''t think its really that bad. It they want to go out thats up to them, but as professional sportmen it can''t be good for them if its close to a training session or a match.

Christ just because there professionals it doesn''t mean they can''t do things normal people do, as long as they go about it in the right way. Abit of team bonding can go along way, especially with the current circumstances, they need to stick together.

Good. Im pleased they were out. Nite''s out are only gd for team spirit whether your a pro or not. Plus they need a break from whats going on atm. The game isnt until monday so who cares??

Professionals? You mean like airline pilots, HGV/LGV/PSV drivers and the emergency services etc.

These folk should have and enjoy a social life, and have every right to. Although, I wouldn''t like any of them to be ''feeling a bit worse for wear'' or ''still under the influence'' when working and carrying out their profession.

Footballers? Supposed athletes, careful what they fuel their perfectly honed and super-fit upper and lower torso''s with.......(Not sure what they put in what sits above their shoulder''s though).

I certainly don''t object to the ''pro footballing fraternity'' enjoying themselves and bonding in their spare time. But, I personally think ''no booze'' at least 72 hours before playing in a game - would mean they have a professional attitude and are certainly focused on the task.

Especially when your team are in the bottom 3.

This reminds me of a funny story about Brian Clough when he was manager of Derby.  The team were staying in a hotel they regularly used the night before away games.  It was in the days when players had just started to pay a bit more attention to what they ate, and not all of them took to it easily.  One of them had a habit of sneaking down to the hotel kitchen in the early hours and scoffing whatever was in the fridge - trifle, chicken legs, chocolate cake, you name it.  He''d been caught in the act on a previous occasion by a member of the kitchen staff who must have tipped off Cloughie.  Just as the player opened the fridge door in the darkened kitchen and grabbed the nearest item, out jumped Cloughie, gave him a bollocking and fined him his match fee in advance!

I wonder if anyone told Kevin Drinkell back in the 1980s that he shouldn''t enjoy a pint and a fag down his local when he was banging in 20 goals a season for City? I doubt it. When the Canaries are doing badly, no City player can be seen to smile or have fun. When Norwich are doing well, seeing the players cavorting in Mercy would have been greeted with the smiles and comments of what lads they were. Unless they start bringing pints on to the pitch, leave them to it.

haha ure all a bunch of muppets!! that is my opinion and will stick by it, especially as the money i as a fan put into the club will go someway to their wages then at this present moment in time i feel it is a disgrace yes because of the situation the club is in! like i said they are only human but their proffession is that they have to b in prime condition to compete at this level and them going out drinking bottle after bottle of champagne really is not the way to pull this club around!! yes if we are sitting pretty on top of the table then they can do what they want i just thought it was a little disrespectful to the fans to which this club apparently thinks a lot of. Great comeback there, clearly we''re all going to listen to the insults and inane ramblings of someone who feels that a person''s performance in their job should directly relate to the amount and level of socialisng that they are entitled to participate in.

Saying that it''s ok if we''re top of the league, but a disgrace if we are not, is hypocrisy of the highest order.

As long as the players are following the guidelines set out by the manager and club regarding their behaviour, and are attending training sessions and matches on time and acting professionally whilst doing so, there is absolutely nothing wrong with their actions. If it was the night before a match then I''m sure that the manager would have issues, and we''d have been likely to agree with your viewpoint in that situation, but it''s not.

Why not drop the club an e-mail advising that you think all the players should be confined to Colney unless we''re in a playoff place, and if they even attempt to participate in any social activity, they should receive a strong birching and possibly be sacked. Sounds like the sort of madcap plan the current board may even consider...

So, whatever job you do-presumably you are also a "professional" at something or other?-fully entitles you to be on the piss early on a Friday morning, but the players cannot do exactly the same, despite your (oft quoted by other posters) amazing revelation that "they are only human". Thanks for that, I thought they were cyborgs built in a secret Bulgarian factory that malfunction if exposed to having a good time...phew, must mean that they are normal blokes, normal blokes that like to get out, get together, bond, and build up some sort of camaraderie!

They''re employees of Norwich City FC, but the club don''t own them; its up to them what they do in their own time. FFS, unbelievable-maybe they should all answer to you next time they want to have half a shandy. No wonder no players seem to want to come here, Norwich fans not only boo their team on and off the pitch, they have an attack of the screaming ab-dabs if they go out for a drink now!

I chatted to Craig Fleming in Tescos once.. he had a basket with some salad stuff, a bottle of water and a news paper in it.. he was dressed in a white t-shirt and shorts... shocking behaviour for a footballer!
