I would want Steve Bruce at Norwich! Experience, affility/history with the club, proven.

And traitor? He left Norwich to go and make a name for himself at the biggest club in the world, any footballer with even half a brain cell would gsurely grasp such an opporunity? I would consider any current Norwich player an idiot if they were approached by Man Utd and turned them down to stay with the sad mess that is Norwich City!

I do not remember too much about Bruce''s departure from Norwich now (as my memory has become confuseled with the passing of time).  I do remember however that he left us as soon as City hit the bottom of the league.  Being such an integral member of the team at that point in time at a club that established him as a top flight footballer he owed us a little more loyalty than he showed (and I know that many other City fans have not particularly welcomed him back to Carrow Road for the same reasons).

I am not one to begrudge players the chance to move on as evidence of my posts about Greeno and Ashton will prove, but Bruce never shown any loyalty whatsoever when he jumped ship.

As for Bruce being a proven manager?

What he has proven himself to be average or poor?

I am sure that you will agree... his managerial stats are hardly fantastic are they???

He has had a fair bit of money to play with (in relation to the level that his teams have played at) and has never really exceeded expectations.

Huddersfield were the only club to sack him (probably when their money dryed up), although he was very lucky to make it through the past couple of years at Brimingham with thousands of disgruntled fans on his case.

Bruce would achieve nothing at Norwich with litle money to spend... Under the current set up he would be absolutely awful!!!!

The problem is not that Bruce has a personal vendetta against the club....it''s the fans have a vendetta against him for the perceived way he left Carrow Road 20 years ago.

I agree that anyone approached by Man Utd to play for them would need to give the matter very serious thought. I believe Steve Bruce said at the time, " I want to be fair to my family " and I think most people who have families would agree that they ought to be the number one priority.

I may be in the minority here but to my mind Steve Bruce was a model professional at all the clubs who employed him as a player although I must say I think he has, occasionally, '' thrown his toys out of the pram '' as a manager.

If he could get through the fans hostility and lack of funds I think he could do pretty well at Norwich........

You''re not wrong.......Those stats certainly dont look that fantastic. Though the fact of the matter is that his teams win more football matches than they lose and his current outfit seem to be playing half decent football, all be it with little end product. His teams are always organised, something City are crying out for. We all know that there is enough quality in the current squad to stop the rot, it is just a case of putting the heads back on the chickens! Bruce would do that. Though a couple of bargain buy gems wouldnt go amiss!

Given the choice of avaliable managers out there at the moment, Bruce would stand out head and shoulders above them all if he was to become avaliable. This is of course is only my opinion, but if Bruce could carry those stats to Carrow Road then we may at least live to fight another season in the Championship.

Steve Bruce gave everything he had during his time at City...not pretty but 100% every game. He gets a call to join Man. Utd. and he went. No treachery...just ambition and a belief that he could win medals elsewhere. History proved him right.

On a personal note...Bruce supported a charity effort I was involved in long after he left Carrow Road....a true gent and a genuine human being.

As for becoming manager of NCFC? No...purely because once again it is a step backwards into the past (a la Grant) when we should be looking for a whole new beginning. I wanted Bowen and Crook brought in when Worthington left....but maybe it would have ended in tears as with PG. Emotion clouds the vision sometimes.

Them Brucie Stats look fine to me, an average of about 1.6 points per game over the clubs. He''s been reasonably succesful wherever he''s been. At Birmingham (including some struggling Premiership times) he''s accumulated 1.5 points per game or whatever and that would give you 69 points and a safe mid table finish! His average records would also compare favourably with most past city managers!

I would take Brucie for sure.

Peter Taylot, i''m not convinced, never really done that much, and struggled at palace although he''s had less money than PG and a more hire n fire them board.

Yes I remember him setting off like a house on fire at Palace BlyBly, only for him to run off to Brum (leaving Palace in the lurch before even giving his managerial career there the time it deserved).

Maybe my eyes are also clouded to some extent because I was a youngster when Bruce left us for Man Utd.  But I do not feel the same way about Dave Watson and his move to Everton despite him breaking my heart when he left (as he had only told me the night before that he was "going nowhere").

Bruce deserted a sinking ship when he owed the club something....  Greeno and Ashton have been called far worse on here and they owed the club nothing (but were instead owed by the club to start performing to a certain level).

Your stats prove nothing other than Steve Bruce is a middle of the road manager (with the exception of his few months at Palace)... if your stats were the be all and end all then they make Worthy a better manager than Mike Walker.
