A MESSAGE FOR HUCKERBY

Recommended Posts

Time for you to step up and show us the player we all know and love. you have been putting in half assed performances all season, fair enough the departures earlier on in the season got you down but if you cant be assed then follow grant out the door. at the moment i get the feeling you think your bigger than the club just because you earn double what any other player does and simply cant be bothered, so time to show it or take a walk.

He''s not fit DDD.  He may have to retire if his hip injury doesn''t improve.
he is fit! he missed pre season, so what? were how many games into the season? if he aint up to it why did he not withdraw himself from those games? half assed

No he isn''t he''s been carrying several injuries, most serious is one to his hip. He''s in London seeking expert advice on it. FACT. He''s had to endure injections in it to enable him to play.

But don''t let that stop you all slagging him off.

He''s in London today seeking specialist advice as to whether he needs to retire due to his hip injury which he''s been carrying for the past 3 months.

So get off his back!!

As much as I love Huckerby and utterly respect all he has done for the club since he signed in 2003, I was having a conversation with my Arsenal supporting girlfriend who thinks he could be our Henry, he''s the "idol", he''s the one the younger players look up to, but if he were to leave or retire, I now think with new times on the brink, it could give other squad members to breathe and establish themselves as individuals and as a team.

I just think ever since Worthington left Huckerby''s heart hasn''t been in playing for us as much as it was.

Apologies to City Angel and other Huck addicts!!

unless he starts playing to his full potential lets hope he has to retire, look at the money it would save the club in wages. overpaid, overated over the hill

Ask Peter Grant why he''s been playing whilst unfit, he selected the team.

That''s because he doesn''t pick the team. Ditto Cureton and Doherty who have also allegedly been playing with injuries despite alternatives at the manager''s disposal.

If he refused to play what would you say then?

It beggars belief, the vitriole directed at a player, who has shown more loyalty to the club than most players who have been at the club in the past 4 years, who was the main reason for our promotion and is one of the few players who can raise the heartbeat in the crowd.

The fact that the opposition still put 2 or 3 players on him while he is below par and that Grant was unable to exploit reflects on both Huckerby and Grant.

spot on! the presure for the other players to pass him the ball, him being the main man, the highest earner, one of the longest serving. time for a change.
I thoroughly agree, same goes for every player who has been involved in the 6 exhibition matches we''ve been involved with in the last month.

This is ridiculous, Hucks is on a yrs contract so he won''t waste the clubs money and will retire before he is incapable of playin at this level
The most accurate post in this thread.Hucks could have left the club anytime he wanted alongwith your Dean Ashtons, Robert Earnshaws, Robert Greens, Dixon Etuhus, Youseff Safris, etc. etc. He didn''t - he remained loyal to the club, to the fans and after being our best player now since his arrival he''s being treated with derision and hatred by a small minority of people who just spend their entire lives looking for someone to blame. If this is the way all Norwich fans think, then we don''t deserve a player of his quality ever again.

MK Canary... I agre with you 100%! He signed for us against his agents wishes, won us promotion almost single handedly, has been our best player since he signed & shown the kind of loyalty only Matt Letissier can out do... and this is his thanks?? Pathetic, the lot of you!!

Oh, & he''s still not match fit & playing with an injury! The bloke deserves a medal, not bloody abuse!!

So now Hucks joins the long line of players we all have to have a go at....Sutch, Holt, Rivers, Iwan, Flem, Doc, Drury......I won''t go on.

He is injured, has been for a while. He''s still here because he wants to be. He was picked by the manager who must have thought him capable of playing despite his fitness levels.

I am not saying he''s been at his best (name me a player who has) but he really doesn''t deserve this level of abuse. Funny how some people forget so soon what he has achieved for us.

As he reads message boards I wonder what he must think of some of you.

DDD I assume that you rarely, if ever, see NCFC play live at Carrow Road. That would explain your pathetic comments about one of the most exciting and loyal players over the last few years.

Indeed, without him we would have been relegated last year and would certainly have not got promotion. He has been injured for the entire close season and like all good professionals has been desperate to play.

The manager is paid a lot of money to make decisions about who to play. Grant is therefore culpable. I assume you read and hear reports of our games, I accept you must take them on board, but please acknowledge they are ''second hand'' to you.

When you have been to a few games home and away, come back and give us your opinions, they might be more interesting and more importantly more valid.

My criticisms of Huckerby have been about his role in the team and how the team needs to fit to him. This causes us all sorts of problems as, for whatever reason Darren is not effective at present and the rest see him as the solitary outlet for a hoof.

Much as i think he has been our most influential, committed and best player for years, i also think his time is probably up! Unless he can get the ball and run at players, he is a luxury the team just cannot afford at the moment!

I will never have a pop at Huckerby, I never dreamed that we would have a player like him with us when came on loan and I was blown away by his skill and pace. He more than NW was responsible for that sea change that galvanised the club towards promotion. So many happy memories.

Now he''s a bit older but still with us and is just one of many who have not been able to recapture what we know or believe to be their best form. Its not unlikely that he isn''t truly fit- PG has a horrible history of playing injured players, the worst example being Ian Murray''s debut and as our talisman was probably hoping Darren could lead from the front. It hasn''t worked out- give Darren a rest and get his hip sorted, play a more traditional 4-4-2 with some extra solidity in front of Drury and then decide what to do when we know what the long term prognosis is for that hip.

We all know what Darren is capable of, this makes it more frustrating when it isn''t happening, but he doesn''t deserve this type of abuse.
We all know what Darren is capable of, this makes it more frustrating

when it isn''t happening, but he doesn''t deserve this type of abuse.
All DDD said was that he thought Huckerby had been putting in half-assed performances, and that he should raise his game.   He wasn''t aware (and neither was I) that Huckerby was going to see a specialist for his hip.  I can''t see that anyone is above criticism for the games against Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves, or QPR, regardless of what they''ve done before.  As Darel Russell said, the players have let the manager down. Dion Dublin said that the team has been an embarrassment.  Huckerby as part of that team shoulders some of the blame.  Players living on their past reputation doesn''t earn us points, and as for loyalty, who was Huckerby showing loyalty to when he said to the press that this was the weakest team he''d played in since he got here ?  That said, there is nothing to gain from singling out individuals, with very few exceptions we''ve been playing appalling football for quite a while.
