Acording to doncaster there is no truth in this rumour at all! Sorry guys. Not that he would tell us if there was though.

Neil,

Quick question, i wont go on about tonights dissapointment because i have made it perfectly clear in the past how i feel about current affairs.
Please respond with a simple yes or no answer to the following question if possible

Is the any truth in a rumour that a potential by over is either currently happening, attempiting to happen or likely to happen in the next couple of months?

Thanks

thanks for your email  -  no, there is no truth in such rumours as far as i am aware.  there is not a queue of people waiting patiently to gift their savings to the Club, however much people would like that to be the case.  the fact is that very few people (with the obvious exceptions of Delia and Michael, Sharon and Andrew, and Michael Foulger) are happy to put their money into the Club as fans

Neil, we don''t need "a queue".  We don''t even need "very few".  We only need one.[:@]

Pass the bucket please [+o(]

"Not a queue of people waiting patiently to gift their savings to the Club" - that''s what I call a contemptuously facetious, didmissive and arrogant put-down !!

When something sounds to good to be true it probably is, I of course hope this is 100% genuine, but some people on here are getting carried away because at the end of the day we don''t know JC or how reliable his sources actually are even though I understand that to a certain extent their is small evidance to suggest that what he is saying is correct. I think i''ll just sit tight and try forget about this for now and if any more vital imformation on this pops up i''ll be delighted.

What is Doncaster''s email address, Canary Ben? I''d quite like to email him some questions myself: cheers in advance for your help!

I mean no disrespect and am not calling anyone a liar. However, something doesn''t add up, this seems too good to be true, too circumstancial, too much like some bloke got bored down the pub and told all his mates and the rumour spread. Don''t get me wrong, I really hope it will happen but do not for a second believe it will.

The fact of the matter is that if there is anything going on, the games that will be played will be played at a much higher level than the vast majority of us are used to playing at with rules and politics that most of us wouldn''t begin to understand all under a veil of secrecy. The other fact is that Peter Cullum is a Norwich boy through and through with a vast personal fortune, a football fanatic who has been following NCFC for 40 years since he sold sweeties round the touchline at half time when he was 15 and who now has a box. He may retire to Norfolk in a few years time, he may not. He may want to become financially involved in something close to his heart to keep him occupied in his retirement, he may not. Maybe someone has put two and two together and come up with 87 or maybe not. Time will tell.

Everything is circumstantial, but I can assure you (look at my post and history) I am a normal level-headed supporter.  I just happen to have friends who are close to the club and relatives who are prominent in the local business community, so I hear a lot of things, and when I heard the same info from different sources I felt it may mean that something is going on.  I passed that on as best as I can while protecting identities.  That one of my sources claimed to have heard the main player talking about this at a dinner in a prominent London restaurant, an event I know both attended, made me think ''hey this is worth sharing''.

The fundamental, and possibly most important point to take away from this thread has been made (I never thought I would say this) by Cluck.  This thread and the responses prove we all want the same thing, a decently run club with some sembelance of ambition.  I hope what I have heard does prove to be true as it could once again unite the people who support our fantastic club and county.

It does sound too good to be true because Â£2bn just seems an unimaginable amount of money at this club but maybe its finally our turn to shine once again. Maybe its the opportunity we''ve been waiting for all this time.
I appreciate it and hope you take no offence to my post. I just don''t believe the rumour - football is full of them and 95% of them are complete rubbish. I hope people continue to post the rumours they hear as that is the only way we get news before it becomes news. However, something just doesn''t add up for me - all too convenient. Nothing personal.

Fear not JC....I think you''''ll be safe........        [;)]

One thing reading through this is that those very people who aim the title of "negative" at me and others are often the very same people who are being pessimistic about this possibility.

Are they frightened of change rather than supportive of Smith and Co.? It makes you wonder. Rumour or not...it''s a potential chink of light shining through the curtain......

Hes not being pessimistic, hes just treating it as it is - a rumour. Don''t turn everything into a "everyones defending delia too much" thread. I''m sure he''d more than welcome the change if it were true.

Read Richard Balls latest piece on evening news, seems to be hinting at change in the boardroom at NCFC which will totally change the financial situation at NCFC, only mentions the Turners but it could tie in with what''s been said in this post.

My friend works for a sports paper (he has asked me not to say, and i am awear i will get slated for not saying but tough, i send him an e-mail about this rumour and this was his responce:

''I honestly don''t know, Ben. Unfortunately we''re not privvy to all of the high-level talks that go on at the club but it would surprise me if the board categorically turned away a big chunk of cash.

However, it''s a persisent rumour and one that we''ve heard before but have been unable to get any cold, hard facts on. Watch this space, is all I can say''!

I no this does not give us a yes, no etc but if its a rumour thats been around a while surly that means there has to be something in it??

Although i wouldnt be surprised if the board did turn away a large sum of cash for pride reasons for example when manderic tried to buy us out at delia said NO! He then went and bought pommpey and the rest is history!

When did that happen? I''ve either completely forgotten about it or you''ve made it up.

I for one hope these rumours are true. A local lad, obscenely rich and a Norwich fan, he''ll do for me.

I''ve never heard this one before.  D&M only bought the club in 1996/7, so they weren''t in a position to sell it (or not) to Mandaric or anyone else.  Geoffrey Watling bought Chase out in 1996 and would have held the shares at that time.  I suppose it''s possible that Mandaric also expressed an interest at the same time as D&M.

I fear we''re moving swiftly into the realms of fantasy now......Guess we''ll just have to wait and see what happens....but not divert our eye from the clowns who are still dismantling our club on a daily basis.

What else would you call dismantling the team in favour of securing infrastructure? The former has a high depreciation level.....the latter builds financial value for Smith and Co. They''ve sold off the decent players and spent it on "off the field" investments.....then replaced those players with dross, thus reducing potential losses. Not unlike having a fleet of second hand cars...they are initially low cost and  don''t lose their residual value quite so quickly.

I wouldn''t have used the term "asset stripper" myself....but as you have I''ll accept the similarity.
What else would you call dismantling the team in favour of securing infrastructure?
At this point, your opinion on whether they are asset strippers comes down to your opinion of their long-term vision, and indeed of the players bought and sold.  Is Etuhus'' real value 500k, 1.5 million, or 3 million ?  Depends on the length of the contract you''re buying out.  In my opinion we have a stronger squad that is missing a couple of key elements.  Do the WJ''s want a League 1 team with a lovely stadium, restaurant and offices, or do they want to generate cash-flow that can be used for players in future seasons ?Much like the Red Indians attempting to buy their land back with casinos, making businesses to provide a long-term large and regular income takes time.  You can''t buy a whole reservation in one nights'' worth of takings.  The immediate problems on the pitch are short term, and I believe they are fixable.

Can anybody say if they''ve heard anymore on this? Richard Balls'' column about ''the wind of change at Carrow Road'' last week certainly was an interesting one and could, as kdncfc said, tie in with what''s been said in this thread.
