Good home pubs for atmosphere

Hi i am an essex canary and go to mainly away games cos can''t beat the away game atmosphere but when go home games always end up drinking before the game around the bars like squares and that. Me and a mate were wondering what the best pubs for pre match atmosphere are as we heading up for the southampton game?! cheers

Squares on riverside  is a good crack,you can watch the lunch-time live game

For a change, try the Coach and Horses on Thorpe Road, just past the railway station on the left hand side as you head away from the city centre. You can buy real ale and enjoy a good craic there. The only downside is it does get very very busy, so be prepared to stand or sit outside.
