Stevo 0 Posted August 6, 2007 Daily Record reports that Celtic have opened talks with Sheff Wed about Derek Riordan and suggest that Brian Laws will offer £400K. They expect a formal offer in 48 hours.I know PG said that whilst he rates him, he doesn''t know where he would fit him into the team....but at that price are we missing something here? Graham Humphrey 13 Posted August 6, 2007 Don''t think so really, we''ve got enough strikers now and we need to spend the cash on bringing in a defender.
Show Me What You Gooot! 0 Posted August 6, 2007 I think we''ll regret it if we leave him.Defense is priority but Riordan is class.
norfolkbroadslim 223 Posted August 6, 2007 Defence is priority, but we will regret it. At that sort of price Riordan is not even a gamble, he is class and will score a fair few in the Championship if he plays there this season. If he came to us and got a fair few goals which he is more than capable of in this league. If we didn''t get promoted and a prem club came in for him and he wanted to leave, we could potentially make a huge profit. We are lacking pace up front. We have Huckerby, but he has has lost a bit of pace. Smart is pacy and may get a few games as a sub but he is still young and has hardly dipped his toes into the waters of competitive Championship, or League football come to mention it.
