BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted August 10, 2007 The Second ComingTurning and turning in the widening gyreThe falcon cannot hear the falconer;Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhereThe ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worstAre full of passionate intensity.Surely some revelation is at hand;Surely the Second Coming is at hand; The Second Coming! Hardly are those words outWhen a vast image out of Spiritus MundiTroubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desertA shape with lion body and the head of a man,A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,Is moving its slow thighs, while all about itReel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I knowThat twenty centuriesof stony sleepWere vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,And what rough beast, its hour come round at lastSlouches towards Bethlehem to be born? Ah, but what second coming will be our destiny? Up down up down up down up down...........Will we reach our historical heights or plumb our historical depths? If the centre cannot hold, then..........?But there again if..............then...........?OTBC

ron obvious 0 Posted August 10, 2007 Apart from The Song of Wandering Aengus, I ''m not a big Yeats fan. I think Kipling''s more appropriate ...IF..... IF you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,But make allowance for their doubting too;If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,Or being lied about, don''t deal in lies,Or being hated, don''t give way to hating,And yet don''t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;If you can meet with Triumph and DisasterAnd treat those two impostors just the same;If you can bear to hear the truth you''ve spokenTwisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,And stoop and build ''em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,And lose, and start again at your beginningsAnd never breathe a word about your loss;If you can force your heart and nerve and sinewTo serve your turn long after they are gone,And so hold on when there is nothing in youExcept the Will which says to them: ''Hold on!'' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,'' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,If all men count with you, but none too much;If you can fill the unforgiving minuteWith sixty seconds'' worth of distance run,Yours is the Earth and everything that''s in it,And - which is more - you''ll be a Man, my son! In Gunns Hands We Trust! 0 Posted August 10, 2007 A little from J M Synge a fellow irish manBeside a chapel I''d a room looked down,Where all the women from the farms and town,On Holy-days, and Sundays used to passTo marriages, and Christenings and to Mass. Then I sat lonely watching score and score,Till I turned jealous of the Lord next door--Now by this window, where there''s none can see,The Lord God''s jealous of yourself and me. Buzzzzz 0 Posted August 10, 2007 I think this sums up a few people on here! Eternal faith separates those that doubtPositive thinking but not withoutrealism that things can failbut knowledge that your belief will prevailfor belief is there to show you are realyour strength, your love, your hopes and steelfor those that wilt, hide and are not deepcan never be called strong for they are sheepfollowing a flock for they have no plan, they may as well be a Man U fanonly in it for glory and facethe real man has much more grace
