Board + PG doing a fantastic job - well done

Recommended Posts

And yes I''m serious. The football we''ve played for the last 10 years has been dreadful. The promotion year was littered with games home and away where we''d get played off the park and nick a win. Sod that. It lloks like we''ve now got some players to bring some flair back into our game and I for one and now gutted I slung my season tickets at WorthingtonPG and the Board are doing a great job. So much dead wood out (and I include Etuhu - maybe Keane will get the best of him but we COULDN''T so cheerio), Earnie was a shame but good luck to the fella. Sh*t happens - not the boards fault. Now if we could just get rid of Hooze off the payroll, maybe he could join that other superstar many stuck up for Easton at Hereford LOLNew season? Bring it on.

I agree, I think the board get some seriously bad press. I thought Doncasters e-mail q & a on the Canaries site was very good and how many other clubs chiefs would do that. PG''s enthusiasm is great to see and I think the purchases he has made have improved the squad. I am also impressed that he has used some of our younger players as well and I think they have risen to the challenge.

Spot on mate, I couldn''t have put it better, but you may get hammered for saying it by a few vocal loons, so just rise above it, you''re so right, be content with that.[:D]

I think it''s far too early to say whether PG and the board have done a fantastic job in this pre-season period. We need to see the new  players up against teams like Preston, Charlton and WBA to have some idea of what they''re capable of. I shall reserve judgment until we have a few games under our belt in the nitty gritty of competitive action in the Championship. However, no matter how good or bad this season turns out to be, I shall always be looking forward to the next match (I think so, anyway!). What ever happens, it''s going to be a long hard slog to escape this division. Bring it on!

I think i have to agree that norwich are a well run club and have every chance of promotion this season. As for any unrest among fans i would say it is minimal. Can 20000 season tickets holders all have got it wrong. Is carrow road second only to new zealand for sheep,i don''t think so.Surely at this stage its time to support the board and team, get off to a good start and be top six at christmas.Linking norwich with every free agent isn''t doing any good,PG knows the type of players he wants,we have got to let him do what he thinks is best for the club,We all have our views of different players, lets be honest who rated the swede jonson when he was at carrow road ,not many i am sure.Thing was though i watched him play in the next seasons world cup finals so he must have been ok,how many other norwich rejects have played in the world cup finals?.I for one have been at carrow road on a wet wednesday night watching middlesboro with 8000 other people,if we ever get to that stage again thats when you have real reasons to moan,as it is we should all be proud of our full houses, new signings and the fact we will be competing this season

Agreed, they have give Grant the cash and Grant is delivering the goods, simple as that. We need goals from midfield, grant brings in Jimmy Smith (6 goals in 22 games last season at QPR).

I''m looking forward to this season with great excitement, play off final, here we come!

mmm yeah the 5-3 victory at Burnley nad many others were quite clearly AWFUL games that we never deserved to win were they not?

Derby (away), Coventry (away) Watford (away)... the list really could go on and on...

GET REAL!!!!  [:P]

And for every game you list that was a cracker I''ll list 5 that were dreadful performances......Coventry away (0-2) was so bad even Holt scored - great result, but the performance was dire.......

Tom you are a lovely old boy , but you are wrong we go up in top spot , no play offs for us , i am so glad others are picking up on my sentiments , i was posting bullish when things were at there blackest , i was forcasting a wind of change through the club and being decried by some , so glad you have all come around  to my way of thinking [:D] arrdee.

yep i have to say a VERY WELL DONE JOB! this has been the most productive pre season for years with a good clear out and some great signings coming in. and all done with us losing our sky money.so a doulble well done not only to granty and his backroom staff, but the board as well. i do predict we will finish in the top six,and i cant wait for the season to get under way!  by the way if we lose the first game i will still stand firm.5 years ago i went and wathed in horror as city lost at millwall, but after a few pints in covent garden i stood up and said we will finish in six,and come the last day of that season we did!!!!

You are obviously a person of passionate extremes. And hence, I would submit, your judgement tends towards the cloudy and the unreliable.

Peter is doing a reasonably good job so far, I think, in difficult circumstances. He will have done a ''great/fantastic'' job if he gets us promotion this year or next.

Your benchmark for the NCFC board is way too low - encompassing as you put it ''ten years of dreadful football''. They will have done a ''great/fantastic'' job when their performance level over a five year period can compare with the benchmarks of the South-Watling-Chase boards.

The new season? Yes, bring it on - and I will be rooting for our club just as passionately as you or anyone else.

But, quite frankly, I am pessimistic about this new season, although I must admit that there are - as usual at this time of year - some irrational sprouts of hope.

You see, I set my standards high, my benchmarks high - and that is why I will tend to be labelled negative/ a whinger on this board.

But, oddly enough, many of us negative whingers/pessimists on the board are actually amongst the most positive and passionate.

You see the difference is that we know and have experienced what it is possible for our club to achieve and insist on setting our benchmarks high.

If my post pricks your ballonn, then, I am sorry, but I will not compromise my standards.

To be truthful, the NCFC board should hold their collective heads in shame over the decline of our club over the past ten years.

But we live in hope, if not expectation, at the start of a new season. That is one of the beauties of our sport. And ain''t that a fact.

One love.

P.S. Do City always attack the Barclay in the 2nd half? Or is this when you play Subuteo with yourself?

       Just asking.[:)]

Grow up. I wouldn''t know how to spell Subooteo but evidently you do. If you went to games you''d know which way we kick, what I cant work out is why. It aint the sun either.... We hand the oppo the advantage every game by allowing them to attack their own fans 2nd half while we attack the sleepy River End. Pathetic.

I''ve watched mostly dross since about 1963 when I started going. Bored with it.

I''m bored with my years trying to convince people that Worthington was a chancer and being told he was god. Grant probably will turn out to be another also ran, but he''s doing well so far. He''s doing whats been needed for 10 years, he''s changing the way we play and the attitude we play with. For the first close season that I can remember I''m genuinely looking forward to a new look City. Promotion? Couldn''t give a toss if its the way Worthington did. I want to see entertaining football, results will follow. I''d rather lose 4-3 than nick a 1-0 against the run of play.

I''m surprised you choose to leave our best player - Darren Huckerby out???

I would play:

David Marshall

Jon Otsemobor
Dion Dublin
Jason Shackell
Adam Drury

Luke Chadwick
Youssef Safri
Julien Brellier
Darren Huckerby

Jamie Cureton
David Strihavka

bench:

Gilkes
Lappin
Smith
Martin
Croft

or something along those lines anyhow.  Safri and Brellier keeping it tight in midfield and Hucks and Chadders offeriung a real threat.

I''d be tempted to try this :-

Marshall

Ostemobor Doherty Shackell Drury

Safri Smith Brellier

Cureton Huckerby

Strihavaka

Safri and Brellier protecting to allow the fullbacks to provide the width with Cureton and Huckerby free to make forward runs supporting Strihavka. I used to like 442 too CJF but it rather stifles Huckerby and he often receives the ball too deep to hurt the opposition. He can''t score goals like the Brum one every week.

If we play 442 then I would play this :-

Marshall

Ostemobor Doherty Shackell Drury

Chadwick Safri Brellier Lappin

Strihavka Huckerby

At least that way Huckerby will still receive the ball in areas he can be dangerous.

He did get us promoted playing up front.

I agree  NuttyNigel...  I would like to see him up front with another striker.

Marshall

Ostemobor Dion Shax Drury

Chadwick Brellier Smith Lappin

Strihavka Huckerby

Hopefully Strihavka will be good enough.  Only time will tell.

LOLGot PG wrong but you weren''t alone. I think the majority felt a sense of optimism during the summer, at last a period of activity after years of Worthington ''near misses''. The czech fella seemed a good signing, not many people were moaning about his signing, Smithy from Chelsea, Marshall...... All good stuff. Sadly not many knew about how many staff / players had fallen out with Grant as a result of his ''tough management'' style.... something widely acclaimed on this board. But it was his inability to manage characters that was his downfall. So I dont see that Smarty pants bly bly babes should be quite so smug. Hindsight is a wonderful thing yada yada......As for the board.... they have done nothing wrong. They had not option but to lose certain players, all credit to them for getting those playersw here in the first place. They are getting stick for not getting investment into the club..... Er.... hello? The Turners? Well done to the board for that. The simplistic notion that Delia runs the club like some Thatcheresque figurehead is just so naive. She is a member of the board. Get over it.

I''m pleased to see my post stands up to the test of time, unlike a few "vocal loons" who were getting carried away with unbounded optimism about the prospects for the season. I said wait and see what happens after a few games before you get too excited. As we all now know, the season has turned into a nightmare so far.

The board must take some of the blame,i know that finance plays a big part nowadays but in buisness you must be prepaired to go that extra mile. The only time as far as i remember is when they went and got CROUCH, HUCKS in that year we will never forget, and that gamble paid off.All what comes out of carrow road now is SPIN,SPIN,SPIN with every question that is put at doomcaster you would think he was into politics, answers is what is needed and i hope thursdays A.G.M somebody stands up and give them some home truths.I cannot belive that they have let it go on for so long,in that year we went up as soon as worthy looked out of his leaque he should have been moved upstairs and a replacement brought in you could have had a big named man in, having taken that gamble.PG wil be a manager and more than likely a good one but it was the wrong choice.Anyway we all have our different views but i do belive we all have our clubs interest in our hearts, and who ever takes over things must never get like this again.
