The Penguin 0 Posted July 6, 2007 Yes i know he is often injured, and i know about the African Cup of Nations, being tired through travelling and missing part of the season, However i will be devestated if Safri is allowed to leave as for me he makes the team tick, the heartbeat of the team if you like, and we seem to play better more flowing football when Youssef is in the team.I am all for bringing new midfielders in to compete for places, but surely we need to keep players of Safri`s quality to give genuine competition for places, and cover when we have injurys in that department.I know we may look to replace him with somebody else, but to me with Saf`s you know his strengths and he will never let you down, where with new players you are never guarenteed they may settle into team. Keep Youssef !!!
Smudger 0 Posted July 6, 2007 I am not Safri''s biggest fan, but I agree a lot with what you have to say...It would be silly to let him go unless another quality midfielder is brought in to take his place... we do need QUALITY competittion for places and cover when injuries, bans etc set in
Dowp End 0 Posted July 6, 2007 For once I find myself agreeing with Smudger---Whilst I would not be devestated or suprised I think he has a part to play. We have seen him hold up the midfield on many occasions holding the ball well and creating opportunity--Dont think he gets on well with PG as his other commitments and being prone to injury is telling. However how many games have we attended in the past when his name is not on the team sheet and concern has whispered round the ground, Not so much concern towards the back end of the season when he was not around as I do feel that we are becoming a much more roundrd side with other options. Would feel happier if we sign a strong midfield play maker soon though !

Frankly, consistency equals promotion. Safri embodies inconsistency, and if the reputed figure of £1.5mil is true, we should be laughing all the way to the bank. Show Me What You Gooot! 0 Posted July 6, 2007 I''d take £1.5m for saf but thats only the selling part dealt with. We then need to spend some/all of it on a replacement thats equally as good if possible.
silver fox 0 Posted July 7, 2007 Irrespective of how many games Safri missed last season he was still our best midfielder by a mile and we should try to keep him.. I am amazed when posters talk about his inconsistency; most of the team were inconsistentlast season that is why we ended up 16th. It will be a sad day if we do let him go, especially if it is to one of our rivals.
Freeza 0 Posted July 7, 2007 When the guy is on form he''s excellent and one of our best players but consider this:-On September 13th he will start his month of Ramadam (fasting) and I just dont see how this wont affect his physical performance. The African Nations Cup will start in Ghana on January 20th until February 10th so there is a chance he will miss 6 games! Is this an acceptable loss, especially when we pay his wages? [/quote]im not even going to bother with my usual response as to how it doesnt affect Muslim sportsmen/Women...Youssef Sarfi isnt the only person to partake in Ramadan Davidall muslims partake in it, and im willing to bet very few of them suffer any ill effects.A little bit of commo0n know;ledge will explain why.jas :)
