Radio Norfolk (Jamie Cureton to sign)

Recommended Posts

Just been on Radio Norfolk that Jamie Cureton is ''on the verge'' of  re-signing for us.

I didn''t hear it personally, I got a text from an EDP reporter saying he heard it.

Also says on Sky Sports news that Sheff Utd haven''t made any sort of bid for Sharp!

...because Sheffield United tapped him up.

He''ll start next season at Bramall Lane for sure.

And the BBC website:

Norwich close in on Cureton deal

Jamie Cureton

Cureton began his career at Norwich, before leaving in 1996
Norwich City are set to sign want-away Colchester striker Jamie Cureton, BBC Essex understands.

Cureton, the leading scorer in the Championship last season, requested a move earlier this month, and the U''s made it clear they do not want to sell.

However, a deal between Colchester and Norwich is nearing completion.

The 31-year-old began his career at Norwich, making 29 league appearances before spells with Bristol Rovers, Reading, QPR, Swindon and Colchester.

Cureton only moved to Layer Road on a permanent basis last summer, after a successful loan spell in the 2005/06 season.

He scored 23 goals in 44 league appearances, but cited a perceived lack of ambition when he handed in his transfer request.

Hull chairman Paul Duffen recently revealed that Cureton was a target for Tigers boss Phil Brown.

So, is he Earnshaw''s replacement? Is he just an extra body in the squad?

Or is someone else on the way?

Chris Porter in too and I think that''s the forward line sorted IMO.

i so hope your right on both,

it would be funny if Sharp now stayed at Scunny and they went back down, only scoring 3 goals all season. (but I can''t see it, deep down I''d still love him to sign for us)

And the Cureton link, that would be great, but its not on any site anywhere!!

Its on the BBC as well, I can''t say I agree paying £750k (if the rumours are true) for a 31 year old striker is a good move, but time will tell!  Lets just hope we get Marshall and a decent midfielder.OTBC!Chunky
