Microsoft Saints?

Recommended Posts

Southampton expect to announce a £50m takeover by Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen within the next week. (The Sun)

Why are we so unattractive?

Even in terms of speculation.

Our image and vision?

I mean, BH, nobody even seems interested in any of our players!

"Why are we so unattractive?"

Well, in the case of this particular American it may have have been on a whim such as considering Southampton convenient for his family and friends to have trips back and forth on ocean liners while, in the future, he shows them "his" football club in games against Manchester United or Arsenal. Of course, I''m assuming he looked at docking facilities on the Norfolk Broads and decided it didn''t quite fit the picture in his mind.

Some Saints fans actually believe that this whole Microsoft Saints deal is just a rumour circulated by their board in order to sell more season tickets!! Just hows you all football fans deeply distrust the people who own their clubs. In many cases they are right not to trust them. I trust our owners more than most but I''m just a trusting sort of person I guess.

Like I put on the other thread, Southampton have been actively seeking investment for months. The Microsoft guy has been "in the frame" to be that investor for nearly a month now. It could happen, but if it really is that imminent why the haste in the sale of Bale?

I doubt Microsoft would be interested in a football club.. and if they were they could have the pick of the premiership sides.. why Southampton?

I reckon ol'' Gordan Ramsy  might take us over just to get at Delia [:P]

Thats if you watched Jonothan Ross and he kept digging at Delia here and there, subtle of course.

Well, Yankee, we''ll just have to look for one of your lot with a luxury yacht that could tie up at the new Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour, won''t we then.

If he likes to gamble then he could spend a few nights at the new GreatYarmouth ''large'' casino, and have his rations sent over from Delia''s diner.

And if he likes a joint or two, the prevailing north-east winds will soon blow away the evidence.

We might have to put in a helipad though, as he''s not likely to fancy the Acle straight too much.

Welcome Bill.

OTBC

P.S. I know you might be wondering, but by then the Championship may be more exciting than the Premiership!!

This woman is on record as saying she won''t allow any foreign  investment in NCFC.

City is her toy.................and no one else is allowed to play with it!.

Even when we''re relegated to Division 1!.[:@]

Ok, so who else went in for Earnie, Ashton and Helveg?

Also Huckerby and Helveg both joined us at times when they probably thought we''d have a go at things and try and progress. We''ve gone so far backwards since those days it''s untrue.

I''m pretty sure Microsoft have ploughed quite a bit of money into Aston Villa shares in the past.

It could be quite funny if the Microsoft man invests in the Saints.

Each time they spend on a new player upgrade, he might not be compatable with their current systems, or they would have no subs cos the backup from Microsoft is non-existant.

Oh yeah of course.

Obviously its more convinient to buy a club where you spend hours ferrying across the atlantic to. I mean its only a couple of hours by sea, thats nice and convienient for his family. More convienient than say getting on a plane and flying into a airport 3 times less time mate. Hmmm have they heard of aeroplanes in America Yankee? Im sure if hes got the kite for a club he can afford plane tickets, or perhaps thats too hard to understand my american pal?

Regards anyhow

Wayne, you are obviously not schooled in the way things are done by the rich and famous ( although the famous bit is not necessary ). It''s quite common for such folks to indulge themselves by crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Mary 2, for example, and then fly back home to the States. Microsoft money ( at a level held by Paul Allen ) extends a long way for family and friends. A lot more appealing than sitting in the middle seats of coach in row 53 on a standard flight. A fourteen footer for 4 hours on the Broads out of Wroxham is fun too but it sounds like you and Smudger need to expand your horizons.

Apparently then, Putney, I could play too as I''ve got 5 shares. Never got invited round though. Not fair!!

Writtten earlier before I knew that Paul Allen had several yachts.

There, there, you see we''ll soon be able to compete with Southampton.[:P][;)]

Just needs a little lateral thinking which is currently in short supply in the NCFC board room. The prevailing tunnel vision and risk aversion will lead us into League 1.[:#]

Wayne, you appear to be a relatively new poster on this forum. You only embarrass yourself by initiating sarcasm ( which you did without any provocation from me ) and then, when I respond by politely pointing out to you what some of the more reasonably affluent Americans choose to do on trans-Atlantic crossings, you call me smug and offensive and operating at a level below you. Perhaps you can try harder to elevate your behaviour on future postings.

You accused me of not being schooled.

You made a post claiming its more convienient to take a ship to southampton without adding the extra part untill i said a plane was easier.

Maybe i shouldnt have been sarcastic but by reading some of your old posts its a trade you seem to have lived off.

Wayne, I in way suggested you have not received schooling. The use of the term "schooled" in the context I used it is the same as saying you appeared unaware of how some folks choose to travel on trans-Atlantic crossings, which is what your initial message conveyed. No accusation on my part, simply a reaction to your input.. My original suggestion was not critical of anyone so why you chose to throw sarcasm in my direction is something that only you are aware of.

Incidentally, the point I orignially made about Southampton being convenient was to cater to those people who liked to travel one way from the USA by sea, nothing to do with travel time. My honest opinion is that most posters on this forum down to the age of five would be aware that traveling by plane is quicker than by sea, so I would suggest your advice to anyone on that point is redundant.
