First Wizard 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Todays Pink Un Report:Norwich City have been linked with another target north of the border - this time from manager Peter Grant''s old foes Glasgow Rangers.Reports in Scotland say former Celtic star Grant is chasing midfielder Gavin Rae.Rae has been told by manager Walter Smith that he is free to leave Ibrox, and although Hearts have admitted an interest in the 29-year-old, it is believed Norwich could pip them, and Nottingham Forest, to his signature. Jeez!, why doesn''t Grant go the whole hog and get us into the Scottish League?, at least we might finish third!.I''m heartly sick of this Tartan thingy, what the hells wrong with English players anyway?. Silly me, they tend to cost a little more and in general they play in a higher standard of league.Under Grant, City are starting to stink of cheapness, hell, even the bookies have turned their back on us.Hopeless. alex_ncfc 686 Posted June 5, 2007 I have to agree...the whole Scottish thing is getting beyond a joke now and as the betting odds told in this morning''s article, I think there''s more chance of the club moving north of the border than winning any form of title anytime soon ... gazzathegreat 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Come on WizWe have a Scottish manager, a Scottish scout (or whatever job title Bryan Gunn has), so the inevitable outcome is they have links in Scotland rather than elsewhere. After stating the obvious, does it matter where a player comes from, as long as he can do a job for us. I don''t care what club they come from, nor their nationality, for as long as they can kick a ball, play in a team and have some idea what pulling on our shirt means to the fans, then they are okay with me. We have recently signed players who clearly don''t give a monkeys about our club, want anymore of them? No, this club should never again be seen as somewhere to "retire to". We should be a club where players sign to better themselves and in that way, give us a chance of greater things. Give the guy a chance to bring someone in. At least he''s looking - surely some improvement on previous years?
Bigmarkcanary 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Or it could just be more paper gossip, with loads of people knowing that we need about half a dozen fresh faces. Does this not occur to you sometimes Wiz? And why are we ''starting to stink of cheapness''? It''s been like that for sometime hasn''t it? Lappin''s a good player - how much did we pay for him? £75k wasn''t it?Just because we''re linked with getting more Scottish players, it doesn''t mean that we''re going to get them and it doesn''t mean that they''re rubbish neither. If we have a team of 11 Scots who get us playing well & up into the top 6, then bring it on!!Leeds fans used to complain about their Scottish players-David Harvey, Gordon McQueen, Peter Lorimer, Eddie Gray, Billy Bremner, Joe Jordan, "...why don''t we buy English players?.." they used to cry. [:o] [:o]It''s natural to be concerned given last seasons'' lack of activity. I think we can expect a few free transfer players around the start of July, that''s when most contracts seem to expire. Otsemobor certainly seems to be on his way on the 1st July, based upon press speculation.
StainesCanary 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Gavin Rae is a damn good player. All the Rangers mid-field are. And yes, i''ve seen them quite a few times and I think he would be a good addition to us. Gives it his all and plays well with much more steely determination than we''ve seen in our midfield for a long time. . Also, this could help broker to deal for Gally to go the otherway if it had too so we could be quids in there. OTBC!

There is more negativity on this site that a norwich union canteen!!People moan when we dont sign players and moan when we are linked with certain players. PG really cant win can he. I suppose its a case of you buy what you know, as stated on a prev post ie Wenger,Mourinho,benitez....I for one dont give two tossess if we had an ethiopian 11 if it meant we were winning.Aberdeen are my 2nd team and i can assure you that there are some cracking youngesters coming through and players in the ressies at champions league clubs (Rangers/Celtic) who would be more than happy to play 4 us.English players as we have seen ovee the last few yrs are often over priced, which is why a majority of managers go abroad in there quest for talent.A few questions Wiz the spiz.....whats Would they wanna come here?your prefered choice of nation? Why? Who could we get? How much would they cost?Would you care who the players were aslong as we won things? Will leave it with ya.....

Stevie Wonder 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Most of this seems to be mere paper talk. It is well known that we are looking for several new players and with a largely Scottish managerial set up we are always likely to be linked with Scottish players.Lappin has been a decent find for £75K - had he been English he would have cost £3/400K.I can''t see too many complaints about the prospect of Marshall signing and Gavin Rae would be a very useful addition particularly with Champions League experience. At least we are casting our net wider than Worthy who only ever signed players who had played well against us - see Rivers, Neilsen, Brennan, Mackenzie.
