Peter 0 Posted March 18, 2004 Right side midfield still a problem, I am a big Hendi supporter but was frustrated by his performance Tuesday, plenty of effort, but passing inept.Could Ryan J do a job out there, he can certainly thread a ball, but defensively? I don''t know.Who could we get there to bolster the side for last few matches, gain I am not sure who would be available to improve the squad. Kevin Harper cold be the short term answer, if fit and Pompey ready to release him, he did the best job there than any one else this season.£200,000 invested could be the answer to our prayers. Mark Rivers could have done it but hasn''t.
ZLF 335 Posted March 18, 2004 I think Jarvis is another possible round peg in a square hole solution that could work short term - he did well on Tuesday and did a similar job against Crewe earlier in the season. However like Henderson he would be a young striker playing out of position and I would want to harm his confidence if the crowd start getting at him as they do Hendo. The onus is on NW to bolster the squad before the deadline hits. Harper would be better than anything we have currently and add a bit more pace - I see Portsmouth are now through their injury crisis and that Harps was no longer on the bench - is the time right for a move?OTBC
DumbleDelia is Magic 0 Posted March 18, 2004 I can''t see if Hendo isn''t right that Jarvis will be. The boy''s obviously got talent but is hugely inexperienced. I think we would be too obvious as most of our play would go down the left. We can''t have a rookie playing in such an important position at this stage of the season. I''d still like us to bring a right sided player in. Richie Partridge is a player I rate very highly.
Archie 0 Posted March 18, 2004 I think we need an out and out right midfield player who is experienced, and then next season, hopefully in prem,to bring in a top quality right midfield player.for the time being we ned a stop gap,but that option must be better than henderson ie a right sided midfielder
Paradox 0 Posted March 18, 2004 In light of his recent performance could Mulryne work for us there? I can almost smell those crosses hitting the penalty spot!
a1canary 0 Posted March 18, 2004 DD, you''ve been told before, we just can''t have a player called Partridge playing for Norwich!!I think Jarvis could definitely do a job on the right. He can run with the ball in a way that Hendo doesn''t. But i thought Hendo played very well by all accounts against Binners and Gills Peter?
ZLF 335 Posted March 18, 2004 Mullers was tried there earlier in the season and basically didnt work - much like Francis. Mullers lacked the mobility to work the full length of the pitch and his passing options were restricted making him far less effective. Its a specialist role and should be filled by a specialist - not by putting too much expectation on a youngster.Yes Hendo did OK, for a young striker playing out of position...
