a1canary 0 Posted May 4, 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/suffolk/6623539.stmIpswich bosses say the club reached its carbon-neutralgoal after 14,000 fans registered their promises to save 3,220 tonnesof Co2 on a website.Am i missing something here? How does a load of binners signing up on a website to say "oh yes, i''ll turn off my lights and switch off my telly" equate to saving 3,220 tonnes of C02?? I''m all for protecting the environment but I can''t stand this bandwagon where people and businesses think they can get away with claiming to be carbon neutral or even just environmentally friendly because of totally spurious claims and initiatives like this. It makes a mockery of the whole climate change issue. Save 3,220 tonnes of C02 ITFC, please do, but do it properly, not via some kind of PR kick for your sponsors. mbncfc 1 Posted May 4, 2007 I completely agree. It is the equivalent of Comic Relief saying they have raised £700m from people ''promising'' to donate money, and not even worrying about collecting the donations... [:|]
