Rethinking the future 0 Posted February 27, 2007 I have just head that a major news organisation has decided not to send any reporters to cover the Luton V Norwich match tonight.During questioning, a spokesman said "Our reporters have seen Luton and Norwich a few times over the past few seasons, and know enough about the teams, management, players and tactics in order to provide detailed analysis about the game"When asked if this policy of not sending reporters to the match would affect the quality of the match report, the spokesman said "categorically not! Our reporters also rely on other sources of information such as the radio and supporters to provide a full and balanced view of the game". He went on to add "At the end of the day, the readers don''t want to know about the game; They only want to know the score. If we say the losing team played well, that is of little interest to the supporters of that team as the fact remains they lost".This policy of not sending reporters to the matches may continue due to the advances in Internet technology allowing reporters to see more and more games without having to leave their homes.
