1st Wizard 0 Posted February 13, 2007 you cannot play 4-4-2 as the risk ofr being overrun in midfield is too great.. they have ballack lampard essien and makelelewe should go marshallcolin dublin shackell drury fotheringham safri lappincroft huckerby brownsubs: gallagher, doherty, hughes, etuhu, martin

Bentleys Slicked Back Greasy Hair. 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Hopefully they wont put out a full strength team. IMO we play our best football in the 4-4-2 formation so I hope we play; Huckerby BrownLappin Safri Fozzie CroftDrury Shackell Dublin ColinMarshall
Tumbleweed 106 Posted February 14, 2007 Looks good to me- fully agree with the midfield problem as thay also have Wright Phillips, Cole, Jan Obi Mikel and Robben but I don''t know how many of those are injured or risked by Mourinho. I would be tempted to play Martin from the start as his confidence must be high after the goal last night.Only other possible change might be Hughes for Colin as Hughes has looked better at right back than in midfield and is a bit tougher than Colin though lacks some pace. Also, Fotheringham didn''t look to be a tackling type of player so slotting Hughes in there might bolster the right.
Old Boy 0 Posted February 14, 2007 I like that, josh. Three left-footers, with cover for Hux.
SM 0 Posted February 14, 2007 or we could try and match ther diamond if they play ther usual formation CechFerreira Terry Carvalho Cole Makalele Ballack Essien Lampard Drogba Shevchenkowe could have: MarshallColin Dublin Shackell Drury Safri Croft Lappin Fozzy Brown HuckerbyUsing this formation we would match them but also be able to play with 2 up front, because if you go to chelsea you might aswell give it a go
Old Shuck 182 Posted February 14, 2007 Good point but I''d stick with 4-4-2, tell the wide players to run at the Chelsea defence at each and every opportunity and to really go for it-nothing to lose, and I''d rather we lost 5-2 than 2-0. We don''t have the players to defend but we do have a bit of pace and guile about us, so we may as well try to make something of that... Marshall Colin-Shacks-Dublin-Drury Croft-Fotheringham-Safri-Lappin Hucks-Brown Saf would sit in front of the back 4, almost playing a sweeper role.

XXL16 0 Posted February 14, 2007 I hope we played 4-4-2, because we just do not want to sit back and invite them to attack, just let them worry about Hucks and Chris Martin...MarshallColin Dublin Shackell DruryCroft Fotheringham Safri LappinBrown Huckerby
San Miguel 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Interesting that no one picks Etuhu and yet Worthy and Grant have both played him for virtually every minute of every game! Please drop him!!I''d go:MarshallColin, Dublin, Shackell, LappinCroft, Saf, Fozzy, HucksBrown, MartinPlay people to their strengths and not out of position - esp Hucks, and give Martin a chance. superhux 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Was Huckerby''s booking not his 5th of the season? If so, he wont be playing
Syteanric 1 Posted February 14, 2007 a 10-0-0 formation should secure a replay!jas :)
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted February 14, 2007 Marshall,Colin, Dublin, Doherty, DruryCroft, Safri, Fotheringham, LappinBrown, HuckerbyWould love to see Martin actually start this game but do not know enough about him to know whether he''s got the compusure for a game like this yet. Anyway, I''ll keep faith with Brown. Not the greatest Doc fan around, but having read another post it sounds interesting that Doc/Dublin could actually work out to be our strongest partnership. 7rew 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Marshall,Colin, Dublin, Shackell, DruryCroft, Safri, Fotheringham, Lappin Brown, HuckerbyI don''t like to think of the Doc playing given Chelsea''s rep for diving and his rep for making contact with players.I reckon martin will come on as substitute for this one and start against preston. This is for 3 reasons:1) I hear he is the same kind of player as hucks, who should not bedropped in his form and it is better to go with the brown/huckslarge/little combo.2) If he starts with hucks banned it keeps the pressure off, he knowshe has earnt a starting place over all bar hucks (if told first reason)and if/when he is dropped back to sub for next match, it won''t bebecause of how he played and so dispirit him.3) we are expected to lose at Preston so if he does badly it isn''tlikely to cost us points. Preston away is a nothing to lose game forus, if we get anything it is a bonus, if we lose it was expected.
