farley 0 Posted February 14, 2007 I don''t know if anyone else agrees with me, but I think it is time that the club introduced a better way of allocating tickets for big matches. (I didn''t bother applying for Chelsea tickets before you have a go, couldn''t afford it and been before. Barnsley and Cardiff coming up as well). It seems that there are number of season ticket holders who will get tickets for Chelsea, where some members who go to most way games will not. We struggled to sell 900 tickets for Tamworth, but suddenly we could sell 8-9000 tickets for a cup match. What about the 1900 who trekked all the way to Blackpool??? I bet some of them miss out on tickets too.I know some see having a season ticket as the ultimate in support but I disagree. Making the 20 min etc trip to Carrow Raod once a fortnight doesn''t exactly make you a super-supporter (what else would you do on a Sat afternoon??)I think the club should bring in a loyalty points system, allocating points for different games. I''m not trying to have a go at season ticket holders, far from it to be honest, but I just think there are some who don''t have the chance (for whatever reason) to have a season ticket, but spend a lot of time and money supporting Norwich away from home.(Season ticket holders who regularly travel, and away season ticket holders please ignore!!!) FU MAN SHOE 0 Posted February 14, 2007 This has some resonance for me, but I dont know how else it would be fairly administered. Not living in Norfolk anymore, I and my family face a 150 mile round trip for home games and we have been to a fair number of away games this season, unfortunately not enough for all of us to make the member priority group with 10 away match stubs, even with a motley collection of pre-match friendly tickets. Just as an aside...why do you have to physically register your away match stubs?...we have little enough time before and after home games for queuing up and messing around with a pile of old dog-eared tickets, ...in this day and age surely the databases at the ticket office can pick up who has bought away tickets and how many...its just another barrier for us out of towners who follow our club through thick and thin. Bovril 268 Posted February 14, 2007 to be honest which ever way you do it, theres always going to be people that miss out, im going to use myself for example :)...... for the last 4/5 years ive had a season ticket at CR and regulary travelled away but i am currently at uni and hence travelling and mainly funds, meant i had to give it up whilst at uni.... which means i try and get to the london games (im at kent) and i missed out on chelsea tickets (as i am now in category 5) but atleast it has saved me some money! i believe chelsea employ a loyalty system obivusly with the bigger games needing more loyalty points to get a ticket, as for getting a ticket in the chelsea end, should the un-imaginable happen and we score how could any city fan just sit there with a blank expression on their face? ;)

Matt Juler 215 Posted February 14, 2007 There will never be a system that everyone is happy with, but I believe the current approach is as good as any. The problem with loyalty points is that a supporter who is unable to attend a match, be it for whatever reason, can suddenly find themselves well down the order. The 10 away stubs from the previous season approach works as it equates to around half of the matches in a season, and that indicates that the person is a regular away traveller. If say Blackpool this season was worth 4 times as much as Luton, Southend, Colchester and Ipswich, all on the doorstep of most City fans, then someone who was unable to make Blackpool does not deserve to be worse of than someone who could not make Southend. The only way to improve the system would be to add in a "5 away stubs" group, but that would be too much extra work for very little gain. Finally, someone asked the question why stubs must be registered. The reason is because lots of people buy tickets for groups. I''m part of a regular group of 5-10 people who take it in turns to buy the away tickets, and unless the match is one that requires the priority system, all tickets go in the name of the purchaser, not each individual. Ark 0 Posted February 14, 2007 I usually rely on getting tickets in the home section for away games these days... I''m not a season ticket holder, I don''t live in Norwich anymore and I tend to get to only about 3 or 4 matches a year - mostly in london, where away allocations almost always sell out to priority groups - so basically, I just have to cope with having to remain anonymous as a fan during the game.As a result though, I''ll be at Chelsea on saturday, and made it to the Derby at Ipswich earlier in the season (that one, I''ll admit, was painful). But I''d say it''s better than not getting to the game at all... (plus you can almost always get student concession tickets in the home stands.)
Matt Juler 215 Posted February 14, 2007 This season only three league away games used/will use the priority system (Ipswich, Southend and Luton). Tickets for the likes of Luton, Palace, QPR all went direct to general sale. It''s just a case of having to be on the ball, and getting tickets when they first go on sale. king of latvia 0 Posted February 14, 2007 surley if you go to most away games and keep your stubbs you would be ok.and tamworth was on tv and tamworth is not a big ground like chelsea.i feel you are trying to make something out of nothing.

Please spare a thought for the many who travel between 200-500 miles round trip for a home game. Our trip is 220 but many travel further. I don''t think that they should all be penalised for their commitment and no, we haven''t applied for Chelsea tickets because we do consider the away supporters.Mutual respect. FU MAN SHOE 0 Posted February 14, 2007 They obviously are not consistent in this because I spent about 20 mins in the ticket office getting refunds on my Luton away tickets because each one was registered against individual members of my family...I usually book my tickets over the phone, perhaps they allocate tickets individually when they haven''t physically got membership or season ticket cards in front of them... FU MAN SHOE 0 Posted February 14, 2007 I''ve done this a few times over the last couple of seasons for the very same reason as yourself Ark...but it is a terribly frustrating experience...Southend away this season was the pits...stuck amongst the shrimpers in a most claustrophobic stand, vision impaired by those bloody pillars...couldn''t say a thing as we levelled and added two more...then surrounded by apopleptic Southend supporters as we gave them two back....The only time I felt comfortable showing out was our away game at Watford at the end of our Championship winning season when, beside myself with our fantastic run in I stood and celebrated the first goal and was comforted that there were also a good number of Norwich fans also where they strictly shouldn''t have been...cant imagine doing that at Stamford Bridge this weekend...as if there would be an opportunity! My experience has been pretty good generally - I don''t exactly jump up and down when City score, but people are normally okay if I shout and applaud the "wrong" play. I often go along with neutral fans, so I can justify being sat in the wrong stand to the fans around based on that. On a slightly different note, one time I went to watch City play up at Covenrty and left ticket-buying to my friend who thought that getting home tickets would be easier (even though it wasn''t a sell-out... doh!), but we actually found ourselves sat next to a couple of other Norwich fans who came with Coventry-supporting friends. At the risk of trying to over-justify my misdemeanors, actually being at the ground is always better than watching on telly, whoever you''re sat next to. Matt Juler 215 Posted February 15, 2007 Exactly, that is my point. The stubs must be presented as the club do not hold the information about the games each supporter went to. For example, I bought 5 tickets for Luton. I only gave my customer number as the game was on general sale, so the club do not know who the other 4 were for. As long as you keep stubs for all the games you go to, whether they were purchased by you or another within your group, still means you qualify? It would be a bit Big Brother if you expected the Club to keep records of every away ticket they sold.
