MR MONTY MONTY 0 Posted March 29, 2004 YES IT MAY ONLY BE FOUR POINTS, BUT HAD MR SVENSSON NOT SCORED AND THE OTHER TEAM HAD, NILL POINTS, THE OTHER STRIKERS WE PLAYED DID NOT SCORE DID THEY.
shortfatb 0 Posted March 29, 2004 My problem with the Sven thing is that he tries as hard as anyone but when he cocks it up he is loudly abused by quite a high percentage of the crowd. On Saturday McKenzie fell over 3 times in good positions whilst Huckerby missed a penalty, wasted a free kick and a corner by insisting that they were taken quickly but nobody seems to mind. Sven scored the only goal and when he was substituted instead of cheering him a section of the crowd exalted the arrival of Iwan. Iwan then performed like a wardrobe and missed a sitter and nobody booed. Give Sven a break.
ZLF 261 Posted March 29, 2004 Sven is a connundrum. He did not have a fantastic game but most of our best link up play went through him - several fans near me in block A lower barclay were calling for Iwan from about 35 minutes - no way to back the team. One of the criticisms was svens lack of mobility - quite a larf when you recall Iwans pace..However once Iwan was on all they did was moan that all he was doing was conceeding free kicks, had no pace, couldnt control the ball and won nothing in the air! Is there no pleasing some fans?We all accept that Sven is not going to be a Shearer but at the moment he IS a better option than Iwan. Crouch remains the best target man we have seen this year. And city can only lose a target man IF the midfield learn how to pass.As such Sven is the best of his type the club has - he only has to successfully see out 8 more games before we can buy crouch. Get behind the man while he is on the pitch.OTBC
