Two Tails 0 Posted January 18, 2007 On clubs official site right now!EARNIE OUT FOR MONTHS CITY boss Peter Grant today confirmed that the Club could be without striker Robert Earnshaw for the rest of the season.Grant speaking to the press this morning said: "Unfortunately this is going to be a case of months rather than weeks for Earnie."He had an operation on Tuesday and the injury is similar tothat suffered by Robert Green, where the ligament has come away fromthe bone. But it''s not as bad as Robert''s hopefully."Asked if that meant the Canaries'' top scorer would miss the rest ofthe season, he said: "Possibly, obviously I would hope to see him backbefore then but there is a chance that won''t happen."I would be delighted if I got him back by the end of April but thatdepends on how his recovery goes. However, it could be next season,we''ll just have to wait and see."Obviously Earnie is absolutely gutted, as am I," he added. Robert Earnshaw picked up the groin injury in training last Thursday and was ruled out of Saturday''s 3-1 defeat to Plymouth.
Hartsons Gut 0 Posted January 18, 2007 I just cant believe this is happening, can you imagine Earnie out for the rest of the season. I bet our odds of relegation have just been put as one of the favourites. Is it time for the board to spend a bit of cash before its to late? What now? Ark 0 Posted January 18, 2007 For the first time I actually feel as if we''re screwed... Relegation seems a more realistic prospect right now even than under Hamilton... Let''s just hope that the loss of Earnie galvanises the rest of the team when they realise that they can''t lay back and let him save their balls anymore! Marty 0 Posted January 18, 2007 maybe the genuine threat of relegation will be good for us, I know that may sounds illogical but sometimes it must be hard to get motivated for games involving a battle for mid table mediocrity! so a genuine relegation battle might be prove to be a good kick up the backsides that we need. ca 1 Posted January 18, 2007 Just what we don''t need but I''m guessing that we all knew this was coming.Assume we''ll have a loan striker on the way to play up front for Sat with Brown so that Dion can play up the back with Shackell?
Pete Raven 276 Posted January 18, 2007 Agreed, 8,000 of us at Sheff Wed needing a win on the last day of the season and Colin thumps in an injury time winner from 30 yards...
Pyro Pete 2,384 Posted January 18, 2007 We always knew that with Eanshaw we had all our eggs in one basket. Now he is injured we need to buy or loan at least TWO more goal scoring strikers.
