BIC 0 Posted January 11, 2007 and just a few minutes perusal of the various threads has reminded me exactly why I stopped.Puerile rubbish, nasty sniping and thinly veiled insults, ''facts'' with no basis in reality whatsoever, pointless negativity .I''m not having a pop at Archant or the way the Pink Un board is run,but I honestly wonder why this board has moderators because none ofthis gets edited out, only the swearing, which frankily could makethings a little more interesting in my opinion. ronbol ronbol 0 Posted January 12, 2007 so the end of free speech, is that what you really want. There are valid points made in most posts you just need to read through the rubbish and try and grasp what the posters point is.most other boards are exactly the same and the ones which moderate heavily just simply are not worth posting to. Alex Harvey-Jones 0 Posted January 13, 2007 I find the best approach on here is to agree with the posts you like, argue constructively against the posts you don''t agree with and ignore the insults etc. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and the controversial posts are the ones that make the board more interesting and though provoking. Yes some are childish but ignore them. It amuses me how worked up some people get about controversial posts. Why do you think people post them?? To get a rection and what trap does eveyone fall into?? Yes you rise to them! If you don''t like a post ignore it or don''t rise to it. None of us have the right to say what a fellow poster should or should not say unless it''s downright unacceptable and then the moderators should stop it. We''re all adults and asking the moderators to stop posts etc - that''s not their job unless its rude. If you don''t like the board then don''t bother reading it! I actually enjoy some of the controversy and thinking up constructive responses. Some of the posts annoy me but I don''t bother reading them or replying and I''m ceratinly not going to call for them to be stopped because this board is open to all and conversations can take place on all different levels! As we saw at Christmas, most of the differences on this board were put aside. Most of it is harmless banter which shouldn''t be taken too seriously. You''re always goign to get difference of opinion. Some people can express that constructively, some can''t. It''s life. Football fans love to moan which is exactly what you''re doing about the board so lighten up!!
Salopian 1 Posted January 13, 2007 I am a refugee from the WOTB board, where sensible points were met with puerile comments. I still read that Board, but seldom post. I am happy here, even f some people do go over the top. Many contributions are thoughtful and informative, and there seems more tolerance of views that are the opposite of people posting. perhaps some postings are provocative, and some corrections a little aggressive, but no-one is is forcing you to post, reply or even read what seems to be fatuous.
