He is worth at least 6 Million!!!

Recommended Posts

If Dean Ashton is worth 7 million, Robert Earnshaw is certainly worth 6 million in today''s market.Ashton scored 17 goals in 44 games for us...Earnshaw has bascially reached that already...and we''re near the bottom of the league as well.To accept 4 Million (if we do) making just £500,000 profit from a guy who is the division''s top scorer would be the end of us for a few seasons.Would £500,000 profit be worth it to stare relegation in the face?

I just hope the board shares your common sense! 3.5million was a bit of a gamble last season for a striker low on first team opportunities and low on confidence. Now, 4million for the top scorer in the Championship... I hope the board just laugh in their faces! Too much to turn down, my arse!

We were the only buyers at what we paid out to West Brom......He was theoretically overpriced.

He has scored a few goals right enough....but the argument still exists that he is a luxury player....and misses many more than he scores. At a higher level that is not acceptable....so major clubs will stay away. Pompey would be a perfect place for him to star....being all about belief and passion.

He is the main man here at Carrow Road....but under pressure to keep his place in a better team I fear he may not be such an automatic choice......

Don''t forget fees etc as well as Docaster''s rules of economics. If we paid £3.5M for earnie, then the club would actually have to fork out closer to £4M.  If we sell him for £4M, we will only actually get £4M and this will be over a long period of time as well. Thus, if we sell Earnie for £4M, chances are we''d actually lose money, or at best be even. Therefore, the only reason the club might want to sell him is for footballing reasons.....none of which I can support.  Truth of the matter is that Earnie is the only thing in the club keeping us off of the bottom of the table.

4 million, ha! don''t they realise we sell our strikers by the foot? Ashton at seven foot tall went for a cool 7 million. At four foot two little Earn is worth another 200k at least,  4 million indeed!

We were lucky to get that much for Ashton imo though.

Considering possible other signings, and earnshaw not the best when it comes to premiership, i cant see to many clubs wanting to dish out 6.5mill plus, but we''ll see.

We cannot accept anything under £5m for him. We need 2 new strikers, a new midfield, a stand in left back & at least one new centre back By the sounds of things we''re skint even after selling Ashton, Green & McKenzie, so you just know the majority of the transfer fee will be swallowed up by our debts. Not to worry though, we''ve got a nice restaurant & new hotel!!

went for a cool 7 million.

What is a cool 7 million? when millions are described as cool does this mean?

Sorry JB, just want to enjoy a thread for a change!!!

As i understand it we only paid 2.75 million for Earnie, it only goes upto 3.5 IF we get promotion.

So that makes 1.25 million profit in a year....not bad business in my books!!! But i do agree if Ashton is worth 7.5 mil then Earnie is worth a hell of more than 4 mil.

Still would rather he stayed with us because he would be hard to replace.
According to the many financial experts on this board Earnies worth 3 groats and a farthing....... Unless of course they are talking out of their backsides........
Make it "3 groats and a farting" - then they really would be talking out of their backsides . . .

HNY to one and all (can''t bring myself to spell it out in case you think I''m taking the piss . . .)

In the champs eaernie is a star and will score 25+ goals whichever team he turns out for because the level fo defenders he plays against are not p to his standard.

Sadly in the prem the defenders can handle him comfortably;  he is tried and tested up there and while his strike rate isnt bad it is not worth £5m+ because the rest of his play isnt champs standard, let alone prem.   That is why he is worth a fraction of what ashton was despite the strike rate.

On Tuesday his touch was poor and during that first 10 mins he was slow to repsond and his movement when it happened hampered our attacking options.  He had chances yet and again showed he needs 4/5 chances to score.  I cant see why  Pompey will want him bearing in mind their league position and they have strikers who do a job that earnie cant when it comes to team shape and team work.

Having paid £2.75m for him anything over £3.6m should be taken,  as he wont be here after the summer if (ha) we dont get promoted and his price will have dropped.

The bonus of all this is that it means he is likely to stay with us, which can only be a good thing.
