Karl Pilkington 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Fantyastic result. Hopefully the future is bright, either that or the Pompey youth team is pretty poor.Well Done lads.
mbncfc 1 Posted December 14, 2006 This is a really important competition in my eyes for judging how good a youth side is.The last time we did well in this competition we had the likes of Bellamy playing. Everton won it with Rooney and a couple of others who are now breaking through. The fact is, if you do well in the FA Youth Cup it proves you have some talent coming through. Therefore, I hope we do well in it.I also found it interesting that for all Milan''s millions, Portsmouth do not have academy status. Clearly youth wasn''t a priority when you can buy what you need.I''m also sure Spillane will be full of confidence. Although I doubt he''ll get a run out on Saturday. But at least Peter Grant was at the Youth game watching [:)]
charlies dad 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Hear hear! Nearly fell off my chair when it came up on the sky sports teleprinter last night.A 5-1 away win against a premier league youth set-up in the top youth competition is a fine achievement. Its just a pity we dont have a home tie to look forward to in the next round. I reckon there would be a decent crowd for that. What is it with cup draws this season? we cant buy a home tie. Gentleman Jim 0 Posted December 14, 2006 An interesting comment from a Pompey fan who went to the match :-".The Norwich striker, Chris Martin, looked head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch scoring twice and making one. Had he been a Pompey player I''d be saying bung him in the side on saturday if we''ve got no strikers."Promising or what ?
O.T.B.C 1 Posted December 14, 2006 I totally agree, he will be full of confidence and as we don''t have any quality up front I''d give him a run out. The only thing that concerns me is that if he has a stinker then he might lose some confidence, but thats the job of the gaffer and players like Dublin and Hucks. Come on Granty, give Mickey and Martin a go, better than with what we have and maybe it might push players like Jarvis and Jarvis to play a lot better. Cluck 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Certainly gives us hope for the future....and shows that the grass roots side is working at least.......Well done the kids!

Delias Buns 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Dammit Jas you beat me to it!If he gets good we could sell him and clear the "Parachuttes" payments!I''ll get my coat...
mbncfc 1 Posted December 14, 2006 If he doesn''t play, we could be in all kind of trouble. It is those creative sparks that we''re missing. I mean, I''m no Scientist but anyone who can run at the speed of sound deserves a run out - everythings not lost yet. If it was a choice between him or me upfront, I''d make sure he was in my place everytime, especially as we seem to be heading back to square one...(If you''re going to go down, you may as well do it in a big explosion of tragic ''humour''... possibly an indication of too much Coldplay knowledge as well...
