Syteanric 1 Posted November 25, 2006 so says Peter Grant. what Peter Grant fails to grasp is that the fans :- 1. pay his wages, and as the people who pay his wages we say shut up. 2. we want to be entertained in order to support - we weren''t. 3. The game was too flat for anyone to sing. Even Hull couldnt be bothered (despite Grant observing otherwise) This comes in the same interview where he said he saw "passion" in the players performance. and how he was pleased. It was like listening to Nigel Worthington with a Scottish Accent!Delia what have u done? The end of the Smith/Wynne-jones Era has begun then.jas :)
ZLF 334 Posted November 25, 2006 Passion - the only passion on the pitch in a yellow short came from the Canary mascot. Oh - and Hux arguing about yet another free kick he didnt get.Gutless - thats what they were today.
The Voice of the Thorpe Area 0 Posted November 25, 2006 Constant sell outs- to watch utter rubbish. A great away following. 99% of the time we always make noise. I think his interview came straight from the Nigel Worthington bible of how to p!55 fans off! Agree 100% Jas regarding your comments on the end of Smith/Wynnes-Jones era. PG''s comments were more worrying that the performance for me.
Alex Harvey-Jones 0 Posted November 25, 2006 I am unhappy with the comments but I don''t agree with the point that because as fans we effectively keep Grant in a job, we can tell him to shut up and dictate what he says. We are not perfect and are not paying for an immunity to criticism. We criticise the manager very often yet don''t seem to be prepared to accept any criticism back. Maybe Garnt has a point - maybe the fans should be signing more. I always sit in the Jarrold and it frustrates me how quiet it is in that stand - hardly anyone sings. However I do believe that Grant''s way of communicating his point shows his inexperience as a manager and will naturally anger a great number of fans! Alex Harvey-Jones 0 Posted November 25, 2006 I''ve just re-read Grant''s comments on the BBC website and it has made me angry. He says that ''we needed the fans for the full 90 minutes and we didn''t get that - for me that''s a disgrace.'' I would say that it''s pretty impressive how many fans turned up to the game following last weeks abject display and that it''s pretty disgraceful if the only way we''re going to beat Hull is if the fans sing for the full 90 minutes. How are we going to compete with the top teams? Of course support helps but is also works both ways - we sing to lift the team and the team then give us something to keep singing about!Grant goes on to say - "I keep going on about passion and commitment. Does it work only one way?" It would appear that at the moment it does indeed only work one way. Look at the Derby last week - the fans are passionate but the players aren''t.Grant also says he needs to choose his words carefully - that''s the one bit I agree with. In my opinion he failed with this and didn''t choose his words carefully and for me that is the disgrace!
Chris Meadows 0 Posted November 25, 2006 Norwich manager Peter Grant:"We needed the fans for the full 90 minutes and we didn''t get that - for me that''s a disgrace. "I''ve got to choose my words carefully but I thought the supporters let us down badly, they never got behind us when we needed them most. "I keep going on about passion and commitment. Does it work only one way?" disgrace actually not disappointment
