Unlucky Fried Kitten 0 Posted November 25, 2006 I think I''m right in saying that a considerable number of people living in the Norfolk/Suffolk border towns of Lowestoft, Bungay and Beccles support Norwich City FC rather than the "football" club in their county town of Ipswich. Similarly a number of blackguards living in Diss choose to support the scum. Maybe 1st Wizard can help me here, but is it merely a case of supporting the club which is geographically closer, or is there more to it than that? In the case of that traitorous little town of Diss, there can''t be too much difference in mileage whether you choose to drive to Norwich or drive to Ipswich, so I don''t know if their choice of club is merely down to ease of access. Lowestoft and Beccles seem to me to be solid in their support of City, whereas Bungay appears to have divided loyalties. Can anybody think of other places in Norfolk or Suffolk with divided loyalties?
The Voice of the Thorpe Area 0 Posted November 25, 2006 Who do people in King''s Lynn support then? Home town club or mighty y''army?
Cluck 0 Posted November 25, 2006 I lived in Lowestoft for a few years...and it was pretty much an even split. I tend to think that it is all down to family tradition...as few City fans had a father who followed Ip***t.....and vice versa. Having said that....the mixture of fans there rarely if ever brought trouble...and the banter was brilliant.Although we''ve never met....maybe that''s why me and the Wiz have such moderate views.....................[;)]

will c 0 Posted November 26, 2006 I am originally from Halesworth (10 miles south of Bungay) and there are many City fans there. I supported City as opposed to Ipswich as my father supported City, so did a lot of my uncles etc. As far as I know, there is no Norfolk connection in my family. Halesworth is 24 miles from Norwich and 31 miles from Ipswich so it is closer to Norwich. Also, a lot of Halesworth people look to Norwich as being the major city / town in the area, and actually do not like Ipswich as a town.I think something that is overlooked is that we support a team from the City of Norwich, as opposed to supporting Norfolk FC, and so simply being from Suffolk doesn''t mean you will support the team from the Town of Ipswich. I am proud to come from Suffolk, but never have, or would ever dream of supporting Ipswich.
