South Norfolk Old Boy 0 Posted November 20, 2006 It is about time that everyone at Norwich City begun to understand and accept that you can only treat local derbies as "just another game" when you you are ten point clear at the top of the Premiership and a nailed on certainty to win. When you are a struggling, mediocre Chumpionship side playing your local rivals it represents the best chance you have of giving your supporters something in return for paying your wages every week.Wake up and smell the coffee at Carrow Road! Start to get everyone from the directors to the playing and backroom staff understanding that these games are importnat to the people who provide the money in the club and start playing for your wages even if, as seems apparent on Sunday, you have no local pride.Let''s have no more pre-match talk of - just another game - playing for three points - preparation will be the same as any other game - don''t get carried away with the occasion. Get out there and start fighting - just like an equally mediocre Ipswich side.
Intenso 0 Posted November 20, 2006 I could not have put it better SNOB, ''just another game'' reminds me of Mike Walker''s comments before our 5-0 defeat at Portman Road. Funny enough just after Walker joined Everton they played Liverpool and he just knew just how important the derby match was to the supporters. As hard as the defeat was to take maybe we can treat it as a kick up the backside while our neighbours will be blinded to the faults of their mediocre beg and borrow side.
