The Voice of the Thorpe Area

Am I the luckiest man in Norfolk?

Recommended Posts

Sorry VOTTA, you''re going to have to elaborate.

You were asked to sing On The Ball City, on the pitch, over the tannoy?

On your own? Is that what you''re saying? How did that come about? I

think i would consider it rather unlucky! But then i''m a grumpy g*t so

i would! But you''ve got to admit, in the present day, it''s a pretty

silly sounding song lyric-wise!

Nice one with the tickets. Maybe you can go on to the pitch at Portman

road and sing OTBC to all the binners! Now that would be lucky!

Got to sing over the tannoy! Yes, many would consider it sad, but I got to go on the pitch! The dj just cam round and said that they had no-one to do it, did I fancy it? So me and fellow poster Matt Hudson went on!

ah - didn''t realise your nick-name implied a deeper meaning - as in ''the voice'' or russell whatsname , the tenor chappy.  i thought ''voice'' of the thorpe area meant you were a self-declared spokesman, rather than having a singing talent!

Ah, i see, and the name too not LGT has explained. Well in that case, massive massive respect to you and matt! I think it would take at least a hundred quid before i would do that!! Unless of course i''d been in the boozer all day beforehand, in which things could well be different. Never mind the danger and all...!

Have to say nothing personal aimed at you Thorpe, but I wish they''d stop this business of having people on the pitch to start that song off, I think its embarrassing.

I have to say, i''ve always said that i would never sing on the pitch before the game, and like you Angel i''ve said its embarrssing but the tannoy bloke came over, Thorpe said Yes straight away and so i couldnt really say no.

KICK IT OFF......

Quite agree. Why can''t they just let the atmosphere build up gradually rather than trying to force the issue.

I too have sung OTBC over the tannoy, It was at the Millwall game last season. I thought it was great myself, especially as you get to stand next to the tunnel as the players come out & then stand near the centre circle with players all around you! It was like being 10 all over again!

When I walked back round to the Barclay it was really quite intimidating, as everyone was hearling a torrent of abuse towards Agent Marshall. (Deservedly so may I add). It didn''t stop him saving that bleeding penalty though!!!!!
