lucky green trainers

sorry earnie, i was wrong about you.....

Only 25 goals this season ????

Let''s hope, if he does, they''ll all be for Norwich and January doesn''t bring a Dean Ashton "groin strain" just in time for the FA Cup 3rd round !!!!

He will always score goals at this level, but we could easily have the top goalscorer and not get promoted.   His strike rate is phenomenal and if we stay around teh play off spots or better by the end of Jan then why would he want to leave, other than as a first choice striker at a prem club?

Still not worth £7m (if he is worth that the what are Hux, Shax Croft and Etuhu worth judging by the Opta stats article earlier this week) and isnt even the top rated striker in the champs - but his goal will be worth more than that to us if he can keep it up!

We should keep everything crossed that Earnie doesn''t get injured, because if anything happens to him or he leaves in January then our season would be over immediately. Yesterday showed again how much we are reliant on him. We have no other striking options that will produce the goods. Keep him wrapped in cotton wool, Granty.

I don''t know why some others on this message board doubt Earnie. His goalscoring record is not far short of phenomenal. Of course he misses at times but then so does everybody else, he just continues to get himself in the right positions and wait for the next chance to come along. He is also criticized as he doesn''t seem to contribute a lot else to the team but that is often the case with the best "poachers" (Ted MacDougall, Gary Lineker). His goals ratio in the Prem for WBA was pretty good and even at International level I think he has 18 goals in about 30 odd starts which should be considered excellent particularly bearing in mind he plays for Wales (no disrespect to the Taffs there but you know what I mean).

I was absolutely delighted when we signed him and have believed from the start of the season that investment into a quality centre-half (Dion now perhaps ??), a creative midfielder and a "big man" to play up front with Earnie would mean we need fear nobody in this division.

[/quote]take your points zip, but in terms of substance over style, and if ultimately the point of football is to get more goals than the opposition, then on this basis earnie must be the best City striker ever - what is it - 19 goals in 29 matches! what a tremendous strike-rate.any stato out there know if any other city striker has ever bettered this?

doe any1 els think earnie has improvd since hes  been here. at the start of the season wen we wer creating chances and winning 5-0 he missed quite a few but against sunderland he only had one shot and took it well. maybe the lack of chances wer r creating is  making him a bit more clinical in front of goal
