blahblahblah 2 Posted October 3, 2006 Here''s a daft idea based upon the following :Our players make good moneyOur away fans pay good money and often for poor resultsWhen Sam Hammam was chairman of Wimbledon, every players'' contract had a clause in it saying that if the team lost by 5 goals, the players would have to eat a goats testicles. They lost a number of times by 4 goals, very rarely by 5.So. If Norwich lose away from home by more than 1 goal, the players are fined the cost of the ticket prices of our away fans, up to a cap of say 5 or 10% of their wages, and this money goes straight to the away fans that bought tickets for that match. For example - we lost 3-1 at Plymouth.Keeping the maths simple, 800 fans went, and paid 20 pounds per ticket - £16000.I''m guessing that our average wage is approx 8k a week if you include the top players like Earnshaw and Hucks, so, keeping it simple, let''s say the weekly wages cost about 80k.5% of 80k is 4k, 10% of 80k is 8k. A 4k fine could be used to give those 800 away fans who booked through the ticket office a fiver off the next match they go to. An 8k fine is a tenner, and so on. The credits to away fans could be held against their membership number. Each player would be fined the same percentage of their wages, rather than an across the board fine, which would be unfair on those players on lower pay.The players have win bonuses written in the contract, so why not disincentives for losing ? This might :Encourage away fans to go to more matchesEncourage players not to lose by more than one goal, and while there''s a goal in the match, there''s every reason to play.Daft idea, or mad genius plan for Norwich to lose every away game by a goal for the rest of the season ? gazzathegreat 0 Posted October 4, 2006 A great idea in principle Blah, but on signing a contract I cannot see any player complying with any such scheme. Shame as at the moment most of them aren''t worth the mininum wage.
Big Rons Brain 0 Posted October 4, 2006 The idea would be better if fans got to vote for the worst performances on the day, and the cash wastaken from those players only.
Cluck 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Pure genius Blah..........I only wish I had the intelligence to understand it.........
Canary02 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Great plan in principle Blah.Could you imagine the fights in the dressing room about who was to blame for the goal conceded in the last minute though!!
blahblahblah 2 Posted October 4, 2006 Well, it''s a simple principle, you pay crap, you pay for the fans to turn up, it''s tjust the maths that gets tricky. What would be cool is if you roll up to the tills at the club shop, give them your details, and the counter staff get a message on their screen that says "Member no 12345 : has credit of 7.50 from 2+ away goal loss fines from Darren Huckerby", so you''d know whose pocket the fine came from ! I was thinking about adding cost of travel too, but our lot aren''t on premiership wages...
