FatMan Fat 0 Posted October 3, 2006 As the board move into the process of appointing a new manager my hearfelt plea is that we don''t appoint an "Old Lag" such as Robson; O''Leary; Reid, or heaven forbid, the Ginger Minge,We need someone with the ability to change the way we play, i.e. good coaching abilities, and someone with charisma so that they CAN influence in the short term."W" did not seem to have either. In the main he was unable to change either the tactics during a game, or give the team that short term "lift" that so many of the great managers have the ability to do. Witness three vital games in "W"''s era - the Play Off Final where his tactics were highly questionable and he couldn''t lift the players for the shoot-out; the debacle aginst Fulham; the game on Sunday when the players knew he needed a result to save him.To my mind none of the Robson; Reid; O''Leary; Megson brigade have demonstrated what we require, indeed, their records are mainly associated with failure. So, who fits the bill?An individual who demonstrated that he was probably our most "intelligent" player of the last 40 years, apart from Peters. An individual who has charisma, who is articulate, and who has presence (as any one who has met him knows). An individual who has proven that when he has been involved with the coaching his Club at that time improves, and when he moves on the previous Club declines, thus proving his impact. An individual who wouldn''t cost as much as the "Old Lag" brigade.Who can this be?Most of you already know the answer - Mark Bowen
Canary02 0 Posted October 3, 2006 The more I think about it, the more I''m coming round to the idea of Bowen as manager with Crook number two.Bowen seems hard enough to deal with the rigours and criticism, but he''s also a quality coach.
