Chat with Brentford Scout

Recommended Posts

Various posts From CosseyPossey in a thread on Wrathofthebarclay:

Just back from the game

I think

the most revealing thing was said on the train on the way home. Got

talking to the chief scout of brentford who said some of our players

tonight would struggle to get into a lower league side

honestly think he could see it all slipping away from him tonight

3-2

up, he was going absolutely mental at the defending. too right; we

looked alright going forward, but were a mess at the back. Shacks has

seriously lost it imho.

was also quite embarrassing/two faced to hear all the people who had

been calling henderson any name under the sun give him a standing

ovation as he was stretchered off in front of us.

sadly for him, he was the bloke the scout singled out...

Worryingly

he didn''t mention any other names, but said that on the whole we hardly had any players who wouldn''t struggle at a lower level!

The conversation was quite funny - I asked him whether Hendo would be

ok in the conference and he laughed and said, ''a bit higher than that,

maybe...''

Was interesting though; on the positive side he was impressed by

Eagle''s passing and thought gallagher''s save towards the end was world

class.

Wish I''d been able to speak longer - great getting a non-biased (either

way) view. Basically he was very surprised about how poor we were,

thinks Eastwood is a transfer window signing for a struggling Prem side

and McLeod is a gamble.

his final comment was this:

''having

seen them a few times in the last few weeks, what you''ve got to

remember is that this was by no means rotherham''s strongest side

either.''

i wished him a safe journey home and pondered that appalling fact all the way across the Pennines...

worying about Shackells form. Also, the hypocritical nature of football fans RE Hendersons injury irriates me immensely.

Of the team that started for Rotherham last night 8 of them started on Saturday aggainst Doncaster and 2 of them were subs that came on saturday. The last was an unused substitute. Not exactly what I would call nowhere near the strongest team!!

Are tyou going to say that Rotherham don''t take the League seriously?? After all they only started with a 10 point deficit!!

Unnesasary extreme knee-jerk attempt at Worthy Bashing if you ask me.
Do you think that people should have booed Henderson when he was being stretchered off, just to be consistent? Interesting argument.
Well there is some serious hypocrisy going on when you boo his every move and then clap him off when he is injured, you might as well be consistent and either boo or I would suggest the best option is to do nothing!

Rotherham have played 11 games this season (including cup games), of the starting line up 5 of their players are not first team regulars although a couple of them have started once or twice or have come on as a sub (sometimes late in the game...), the players are Taylor, Woods, Hoskins, Cochrane and Williamson. So maybe the Brentford scout who has watched Rotherham a number of times knows more than somebody who has gone back to looking at the line up for the last game (ignoring the previous 9 games), it would appear that just like us Rotherham do indeed field a cup team.
