Syteanric 1 Posted September 23, 2006 Lets suppose just for a second that worthy Resigned/got sacked Tommorow. The "long and arduos" process of appointing a new boss would get underway and id expect Livermore or Hunter would be placed in Caretaker charhs until we got a new man in. the board, as we have seen before have no guts. they Bought Walker back and didnt give him Time, Rioch was a friend of Delias, so he got the job after Walker, again when Rioch left, the board showed no guts, appointing "hammy Hampster" into the role. Hamilton made a complete shambles of it, and parted company with the club.Worthington took over as caretaker, again we had middling to fair results, but the club, instead of scouting about for someone better gave it the old pals act again and appointed from within. It seems to me that the club MUST appoint a friend of Delias or somone who they have seen working first hand and feel they can use for "continuity" rather than upsetting the apple cart. Nigel ghets the chop, Hunter or Dippy Doug are here and are in charge for 4 or 5 games, in willing to bet they will get the job just because they are on the pay roll. Our board lack the guts to go outside and appoint a new man, a new manager will want his own coaching staff, not the shambolic yes men that our board want. A new manager is going to lay down the law of what he wants in terms of players and budget, he wont be happy with "this is what u have got get on with it" like out past 4 managers have been told. A new boss, might, Heaven forbid(!!) DEMAND from Delia and the board.it is with this reckoning that I fully expect to see Keith Webb make the succesful step up from Toilet cleaner to manager. Bravo City! Bravo Delia! gutless! league 1 here we come.~Sack the Board!jas :)
canary cherub 1 Posted September 23, 2006 Totally agree Jas. When they appointed Worthy I bet they never dreamed he''d get us promotion. By all accounts they did their level best not to sign Hucks on a permanent deal, and now it looks like they''re not going to offer him another contract. We''re rapidly turning into a hotel and restaurant with a nice little football club attached. We''d never have let Chase get away with this.
JJ 0 Posted September 23, 2006
Worthington took over as caretaker, again we had middling to fair results, but the club, instead of scouting about for someone better gave it the old pals act again and appointed from within.
Not sure about that. Worthy hadn''t been here very long and he did come in and kick some butt initially.I wonder if the board''s loyalty to him now is based on the fact that he saved their a***s when he took over. The board were getting slaughtered at that time (i think somebody even raised a no-confidence vote at the AGM) and Worthy may have dug them out of a hole with his initial success.Perhaps that why they haven''t the heart to make a change cause they feel they owe him one. Just a thought.
Ramrod 258 Posted September 23, 2006 So, we''ll probably end up with Jamie ''school dinners'' Oliver as manager.Oh! Well, he can at least shout instructions at the players and water the pitch at the same time.
