WHY. What is it about Worthy that some find so endearing?

Recommended Posts

Why is he so defended by some fans?

What is it that make you always want us to give him more time?

I just don''t get it.

Is it that you think we owe him because of our promotion?

Is it that his charisma?

Is it his tactics?

Is it that you have not seen better?

Is it that your frightened of change?

Is it that you like to defend the underdog?

Is it that you feel sorry for him?

Is it that you are satisfied with his performance over all?!!

Is it that he is a nice guy?

I could go on but it''s not going to help me understand.

As somebody who genuinely thinks that we could do better a whole lot better with a different input from the top I honestly don''t understand what you lot see in the guy.

He has done well financially out of Norwich what do we owe him.

Oh is it better the devil you know?

In that case bring back Chase cos we played much better football at a much higher level when he was here!

Is it that you don''t think we could do better? cos that one would really need some explaining.

Please without degenerating in to a slanging match tell me WHY.

Some of these deluded idiots seem to think he is Norwich City and that we can not survive without him.  I mean who else is there out there who could do a better job !?....oh no we couldn''t possibly risk CHANGE could we.

Nigel Worthington is just an employee of this club, and not a very good one at that.

He should be given until Christmas to turn the away form around.

Not an answer. Just an insult. What I was after was a reasoned argument between two adults. What I got was not a reason just a glib retort

I don''t know. In my opinion he is a poor manager as he has demonstrated many many times over the past couple of seasons but many fans seems too blind to notice. If Norwich stay in second spot until the end of the season then there is no reason to sack him but judgiung by today''s performance it''s unlikely to happen and I think someone else could help the club to move forward more quickly.
Again you offer no answer. Who''s talking about changing the manager every 12 months. Not me. I see no point about Barnsley. What do they have to do with why some fans defend Worthington regardless. You feel better for calling me a delicate flower then fine. Maybe it makes up for that rubbish our team turned out again today in your world.
Well your post is half sensible. I take a dislike to people calling me a deluded idiot because I''m certain I''m not. Yes today was a disappointment but from the first 5 games things looked to be on the up. If we continue to play as we did today then fair enough, but if people start up the protests after 1 bad game this season (forget last season because its just that Last Season) the only effect it will have on the club will be negative and surely it was prooved last season that protest don''t work. This season I wanted to give the manager and team a second chance and up until today I think I''d been prooved right to give them the chance and support. Please can everyone do the same. Of course if it comes to a point where we are playing as we did last season home and away and no sign of improvement then fair enough but until that point...

Before i say this, last year i was one of worthy''s biggest critics, i realised he was here to stay and said i would back him to start with.

In answer to your question, although i don''t think endearing is the right word.

Why?

Because we are 4th in the league!

Ok, we havent scored away

Ok, we have had 1 bag game

Ok, we appear short on the ground

BUT,

We have won 3 out of 3 at home

We are Joint Second top scorers in the league

We''ve had 1 bad game out of 6

We can add back up too the squadd

AND WE ARE 4th IN THE LEAGUE. I am sure most people would have settled for that after 6 games, at the start of the season.

Today''s performance was worrying and a defeat on tuesdaywouldnt be good but untill we drop out of contention there is no need to panic.

Whats all this 1 bad game stuff. 3 game we''ve played they away games and scored no goals. If but and only don''t count. 3 games 1 point not good. so we have had 3 good games 1 average game as indicated a draw and 2 bad games. Points will decide the league not waffle and delusion be it from Worthy or his supporters.

I don''t regars myself as a deluded idiot, nor do I think that Worthington is Norwich City. I think we have had better managers and we have definitely had worse.

I tthink that the delusion lies with those that think that getting a new manager will definitely be successful and solve all our problems. It is quite possible that Worthington would be replaced with a worse manager.

Nevertheless, if we continue to lose all our away games, I am sure he will be sacked and will deserve to be but I think that given the generally encouraging start to the season this is unlikely. The hysterical reaction of some to a poor performance (by all accounts - I did not go) smacks of immaturity and lack of understanding of the realities of football.

Yes But 10 Points from 6 games is solid start. We wont win every home game but if we can realistically pick up more than 50 points at home it takes the pressure off, and we wont a brilliant away recored to reach the play offs. Of course 1 point from 9 is a concern, of course not scring in 3 is a worry, but in the other 2 we were unlucky - today was the first bad perfromance. I know its points not performances that matter but if we can get back to the way we played at derby and leeds, keep creating chances like we did then, we will win as many as we lose.

Three games away without goals is disappointing, but ten goals scored at home is encouraging. Glass hall full or empty you take the choice.

None of these games away have been one might consider easier clubs. All three clubs being in the Premiership over the last five years and being of a similar stature as us with support and aspirations.

No game is easier in this league and I for one think there will be at least 6-10 clubs in with a shout of claiming the top two positions for most of the season.

Yes our lack of away wins and goals is a concern, but I believe that two of those three performances away were good and today’s was just one of those days.

I would echo Corporal Jones statement of “Don’t Panic” since it’s too earlier to draw any conclusion just yet. For the record I seem to remember that our away form was poor to start with in the season we got promoted and I can never really remember us having a great record on the road ever!

Worthy has made mistakes and is not the perfect, but I don''t see a need for a change of manager when we are fourth in the league.

In case the 24,000 who were there have forgotten we were actually pretty poor for the first 55 minutes or so against Luton and then got gifted a goal from a defensive slip from which we did very well to get the win. But lets not delude ourselves that we were not outplayed for a lot of that match.

I couldn''t go today so I can''t comment on the game but reading the Pink''Un report worried me that we didn''t seem to create any chances. If you lose 3-0 because you throw the kitchen sink at the opposition and get unlucky then fair enough. We seem to have just folded so you wonder exactly what training they have been doing in the past two weeks. From 5-1 to 0-3- a seven goal turnaround is pretty impressive. More cheese Gromit?

And by the way, I find nothing about Worthy endearing. I find him hugely irritating, but if he is the right man for the job I will get behind him. Unlike others I am not prepared to do a U-turn after a handful of games but we can at least say that there are more postives this time around than last season.

1 point away from home but deserved more, ask Watford about points? they have played well and everybody says they deserved more but do you think their fans are whinging on like you? I would guess they are all relatively optimistic since they are playing well, long term this is what counts, would we be happier to scrape the odd win away from home but play poorly? I new it would take one bad result for all the whinners to come out in force. I think you need to be a bit more respectful to people who may still be happy to stick with our current manager, we are not in dire straits yet are we? where were all you people 10 years ago? because if you were all asking for a new manager every month your wishes were granted and please remind me how much success it bought us?

By the way did you see our 3 away games or are you just moaning because of our points tally?

I reckon it''s because he''s at the cutting end of fashion - 1970''s track suits made in Communist China will catch on, remember you read it here first!
The end of your post is just management speak. If we keep. Then it well. It''s just management waffle. What if we DON''T what then another season where the money just slips away paying players wages who aren''t up to the job. I''m sorry but no one has give one sound reason for this devotion to the manager and his abject performances

There is no need to panic. We are 4th in the league, thats why people arent shooting down nigel like you seem to want to. If we slip down the league then i will be unhappy and want him gone but lets get behind him. One bad game, doesnt make a season.

Hardhouse the problem withyour arguement is that you don''t seem to recognise that there are many positions between being a confirmed and diehard "worthy outer" and a "Worthington devotee."

Some, for example, might be sceptical but prepared to give him a chance because they want to retain some optimism; some might feel some residual loyalty for him for the promotion season; some might think he walks on water.

There are many other stances other than the one''s you naively highlight. It is consistent with a generally simplistic analysis of most issues.
