Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted September 10, 2006 Norwich clearly have a problem with preparation for matches and surely good preparation is vital. The Barnsley match was how it should be, start playing at minute one; but game after game Norwich start poorly, get caught on the back foot and leave themselves a mountain to climb. It has happened for the last two seasons and is happening this season too.Why does it need a half time talk to try and sort things out, they should have been sorted out before the game kicked off in most matches? Why is it a half time talk often sees a better second half performance, to me this indicates poor preparation as that talk should have been given at the start.Yes, I hear you say, but teams change tactics so we don''t always know what to expect. This is true to some extent, certainly Coventry changed and they changed because they knew we could not. We have, in addition to poor preparation in terms of the opposition, poor preparation in respect of a plan B or C.Teams will be doing to us what Coventry did and we will have no variation to cope. We have been quickly worked out by people like Mickey Adams who do prepare for a game and we are in trouble as a result. The frustration at Adams counter tactics saw a number of our players booked, it was so effective. We thrashed Barsley because they were stupid. Having done well up to that point of the season with a cavalier gung ho attitude they came to Norwich intent on playing that way even after going a man down, result, well beaten. Most teams will try to frustrate and stifle us, providing they prepare. You can see what reports say about us: slow to start so get at them from the off and don''t let them settle; if in doubt put the ball out, they pose little threat from set pieces; don''t let Huckerby inside, sit on Robinson. We are so predictable and not only do we not have the staff to change we have no cover for the players like Croft, Huckerby and Earnshaw to make it work as it is.The lack of preparation extends to signings and squad balance. Look at Martin O''Neill. No lack of preparation there, Keane will be the same. Villa and Sunderland will be in the right mind-set going into every game from now on, I am afraid it comes from the top.Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Norwich have not only been naive in their preparations for this season they have trusted to luck too.Everyone, whether they support Worthington or not can see it. Generally, supporters consensus is right and we know that the preparations have been and continue to be poor and for this there is no excuse.
Yellow Rages 0 Posted September 11, 2006 Failing to prepare, or not preparing in the right way?Could be either and it''s not unusual that you have plumped for one option like it is the truth and you know that for sure.
