Hardhouse44 289 Posted September 17, 2006 As fan of Norwich City we should all call for clarification of what the clubs expectations are this season. We were lead to believe by the manager and by Doncaster that the clubs aim is promotion. However we sit mid table. Have just witness a 3 match run of woeful results/performances and have failed to secure the required players that the club itself said we were after and needed. On top of that injury has illustrated how weak in depth we are with the loss of just one key player. We hear nothing from the club as to our aims and our once vocal directors are silent. Worthington as required does speak after matches but only in the form of spin which he has been trawling out for the past 2 seasons. Chopping between berating the players and praising them despite losing. We have a right to know. Before the start of the season and before many had committed their money to the club the talk was of this being a promotion chasing season. What are the boards aims now and what are they going to do to maker those aim happen.Of course I am assuming that their aims and ambitions are still promotion, if they are not then that would explain a lot. Where are our reassurances that the club has this in hand and where are the denials that they won’t allow a repeat of last season. We once again we seem to be floundering when our 1 plan does not work. We saw no plan B in the transfer market we saw no plan B on the pitch yesterday when we need to change things and I believe this silence from the club despite the growing concern from fans that this season will be the same as the last show that they have nothing planned but to keep their fingers crossed and see how much the fans will take. What are the club doing to rectify the problem. Tell us we have a right to know.My guess nothing.
canary cherub 1 Posted September 17, 2006 Good post HH.We''re only two or three players short of a strong enough squad to mount a realistic challenge for promotion, so it really makes you wonder what''s going on. If we had to spend ÂŁ10 million or even ÂŁ5 million to bring the squad up to strength I could understand it, but we don''t. I wonder if they''ve dug a huge financial hole with their non-football investments? When the Annual Report comes out in November we may get some answers, if we can read between the lines. lucky green trainers 0 Posted September 17, 2006 palace were also weakened by injuries, but we were second to them all match. they created 2 one on one chances, but each time fluffed them - we didn''t create a one on one chance all match, despite having the quickest man on the pitch in the shape of earnie, we didn''t put 1 ball on the ground for him to run onto. very disappointing. also i don''t see the point of playing wide then putting high crosses in for a lone earnie to latch onto, especially when he''s marked by 2 brickhouse central defenders. where are the low balls drilled in for him to run onto, especially along the edge of the six-yard box. don''t get me wrong, i love crofty and think he''s a great buy, but his delivery needs improvement, while we all know wly has the ability but sometimes doesn''t show it - i can''t remember a dangerous ball in yesterday. the biggest worry for me, hot on the heels of the leon saga, is worthy''s relationship with the players. after his hard-cop routine after the southend farce, and probably rightly so, it seems he didn''t inspire the players to rebound yesterday to prove him wrong. although nowhere as bad as the bad of last season, our performance and desire looked second best compared to palace. Syteanric 1 Posted September 17, 2006 First sign of a dressing Room revolt perhaps LGT? if so i give Worthy 3 games before he HAS to walk due to losing the dressing roomjas :)
Alex Harvey-Jones 0 Posted September 17, 2006 I think the club are aiming for promtion yet are sitting on the fence in terms of the support they are prepared to give Worthington financially to achive this! It''s all very well aiming for promotion but unless you back it up with actions it''s meaningless!
lucky green trainers 0 Posted September 17, 2006
First sign of a dressing Room revolt perhaps LGT? if so i give Worthy 3 games before he HAS to walk due to losing the dressing roomjas :)
dunno if i''d go as far as that jas - but sure, the players didn''t match palace for me and after tuesday nite that was disappointing. yesterday felt like a nothing day for me - it just didn''t happen. perhaps it was just because it was too bleedin hot! for the crowd and the players. city didn''t turn it on, and although there was some decent build-ups, they never came to much. also, disappointed to see city failed to get on top of palace for any length of time during the game. we didn''t really dominate them or pin them back in their own half consistently. i never felt we had any sustained pressure that would lead to a goal. sometimes you can feel a goal coming right? not yesterday for me. we had 2 fluffed earnie chances and hopeful long-range efforts all day - nothing to upset the pj man in goal for palace. still you get games like that. we must bounceback though. sussexcanary 0 Posted September 17, 2006 Haven''t we been here before?! Dressing room revolts, losing the players confidence, not being able to motivte the team....he survived all this last season expect the same again. The only thing that would change this would be if we went on a terrible run of home form...then i think he would go!!!To be honest i shudder at the thought of just how bad things would have to get for him to be sacked. .. JJ 0 Posted September 17, 2006 The transfer situation is mysterious and very unclear with lots of mixed signals. We have had board members calling for a "big push" and promising several signings, and at the same time we have had various excuses - valid or not - regarding holidays, the World Cup, nobody doing business, Safri''s transfer, the Jarrold Stand, etc.Something doesn''t ring true. I don''t know if its Worthy''s fault or the boards fault (or both) but our transfer strategy looks very very shakey indeed. The fans have renewed their season tickets in great numbers when they could have walked away and I think they are entitled to some answers as to what is really going on.
