Is Worthingtons luck coming back ??

Recommended Posts

Before the mass of

OK I admit Worthington will have had a major say in appointing Martin Hunter which has had a incredible impact on the style and quality of football being played - therefore not necessarily luck there.

However I believe the other major catalyst of our improvement this season so far is Lee Croft - at last we have a proper right sided player - but all things indicate we wouldn''t have got him if we had got in one of Worthingtons top 2 targets Hulse or Howard. If we had got one of these we would have been playing Hughes or Henderson on the right - not quite the same eh ? - same results/performances - i thinl not.

At last we have balance - threats from both sides (plus earnie down the middle) this is undoubtedly the reason why hucks is playing his most devestating best again - basically because he has more space - teams just can''t mark him out of the game as our only attacking option.

People (including myself) who said Worthington has been a lucky manager in the past to achieve what he has and whose luck ran out last season - well the signing of Croft by default may mean his luck has returned and (although I still would like to see the back of him) long may it continue....

[/quote]I disagree. You don''t know how long we''d been after Croft for, and Green was always going to be sold before the end of the window, freeing up more transfer funds.

let''s hope so!

We were targeting Croft a long while ago so this is not down to Martin Hunter is it? this is down to our manager and management team. Also, some of our players who underperformed last year are on good form, this is down to them and not the manager, you can''t force the best out of them only encourage it.

Would we have got Croft if not Howard ?  It all depends how much money was actually available in the transfer budget.

Howard would have cost us a million.  Croft cost us 600k plus 100k if promoted.

I think that if it was possible to get Howard for a price that the board considered reasonable, then yes, we might have.  It could well have been the case that the board didn''t want to jeapordise the purchase of Croft with the purchase of Howard as Howards'' price spiralled.  It has to be said with hindsight that this was the correct decision, if indeed it came down to that.

Incidentally, Worthington was quoted in interview as saying that we had been tracking Croft for 12 months before buying him.  No doubt that Hunter would have reinforced the positive opinion of the player, but again, it''s not all down to one man.

Some people seem to have genuine problems with accepting that it''s a team game.

Worthingtons luck never ran out , he fluked so many lucky wins last season its unbelievable and this team would still be better if he packed his bags and slung his hook.

Remember when he was forced to play McVeigh as every other option was gone and additionally hooves got injured,  We actually won a few games!!  lol

hughes might be useful this season, used as a sub and to cover for injury. not the undroppable first player on the teamsheet like last year.

anything positive to say then? No, thought not. You are sounding like a stuck record, like someone with a grudge, is there something you want to tell us? did Nigel bully you at school or something?

Any chance posting anything without slagging off our manager? if we do well you gripe and moan and if we do badly you gripe and moan, I do not understand it. Get over your problem, NCFC is not just about 1 man, try directing your spite towards other people, it may be healthier for you.

Agree with you Not Worthy!

If we get promoted this year with Workthington in charge then  I will never post anything negative about him again..
