CHRIS SUTTON '06 - NOT INVENTED HERE

Recommended Posts

The buffoon will not countenance the thought of Chris Sutton playing again for the club as he is too closely associated with an era when the side were renowned for high quality football. Football as far away from his brand of hoofball as it''s possible to get.

The man will never understand the ethos of this Club and over five years has singlehandely demoilshed a fine heritage.

How the Club can lose on a pay as you play deal with Chris Sutton is beyond me.

I bet he hasn''t given it more than a few seconds thought - if that!

I find it hard to beleive Bernard, that Chris Sutton has not been invited to the club for a discussion about a possible transfer, wage demands and the like.  We could at least habve taken him on trial for a week to see what he can do?

The chance to sign a 33 year old ex premiership striker should not be sniffed at so easily.  Then again this is the manager whom said Robbie Fowler was past it so what does he know - not a bloody lot by the looks of things....

Wow.  Yet another instantly forgettable thread about Chris Sutton.

The people that are calling for Chris Sutton to be taken on by Norwich are generally the same people who have been calling for Worthington to be dismissed.  To me this suggests how little they know about football.

Playing fluid, passing football isn''t an easy thing to do.  It is when it is made to look easy that you have a team firing on all cylinders, that has confidence.  Confidence is something that has to be built upon, as a team, it''s not something that comes as a result of thowing an overpaid has-been into a well established team that already has many attacking options.  Sutton would only slow us down, and prevent younger and more able bodies from getting into the team.
I think you will find it isn''t the likes of Sutton keeping younger players out of the team it''s your Spiritual leader - Mr Worthington

If that is the case, why would you possibly want us to sign an even older player ?

The argument doesn''t stack up.  Of course, it could just be that some people who don''t understand football take the opposite point of view to the manager just because they want him out, as if that will suddenly give us promotion back to the Premiership.

Some people should stick to drinking and shouting.

Sutton is a link man, with excellent passing skills, and capable of the kind of delivery, and through ball that Erny would be able to break the offside trap and thrive on.  he can also score a goal.  Teddy Sheringham is still playing at 40, so your ''has been'' remark is way off the mark, to disregard an ex premiership player so easily.  Overpaid - how do you know?  he wants to move back to Norfolk - I firmly beleive he would be willing to play for a regular championship footballers wage/pay as you play.

As for your comment on Sutton keeping younger players out of the team, where have you been these last five years!!!!  We have a manager who does that as a matter of course!  The only player Chris Sutton would be keeping out of the team is Peter Thorne!!

That''s right Foghorn, we only played 11 games last season, and Thorne played in all of them.
Overpaid - how do you know?
I fully admit to not knowing what wages Sutton was on last season.  But I bet it''s a sight more than the average Championship player.
Teddy Sheringham is still playing at 40
Well, that''s all right then, I''ll just give Iwan Robests a call, sure he can still do a job.  Oh, and who else ? Alan Shearer ?  He was good with Sheringham, who must be slowing down a bit now, maybe they can both play upfront for us eh ?

Sutton was a great player and is still a good player at Championship level and on paper would fit into our side well.

However, he is injury-prone and at his age can only be seen as a short term move.

Plus he has a reputation for being tricky for managers to work with which Worthy wouldn''t entertain anyway.

If the move were to happen and he signed on for a season or two, I couldn''t see it going well. Intermittant starts, the old goal or two (ten max over the course of the season) and plenty of minor niggly injuries that keep him out for a couple of games at a time messing up the continuity of the team? I think we can live without that again this season.

I think all the talk of Sutton coming home is wishful thinking, if understandable. He''s the best player I''ve ever seen in a City shirt, but he''s not what we need right now.
