Who do you think will be the suprise package?

Recommended Posts

Every season there is usually a player who does surprisingly well and shines for Norwich, for instance last season The Doc and the season before Francis. Who do you think will do well and not so well this season? I think Etuhu will show us that he was a good signing. I don’t no why but I just think that he will play with more determination. What does everyone else think?

Agree with you, Etuhu will do well this season. I feel so will Earnshaw and Shackell. (Also Gallacher!)

However i feel another sloppy average season for Hughes and Robinson..

Good question Drowny, I''d love to see one of our youngsters come through and shine which we are sooo overdue, Worthington prefers loan journey men  so that probably wont happen

Possibly Etuhu but he is very inconsistent. Perhaps one of the players who everyone considers rubbish such as Robinson, but cant see that really.

Perhaps McKenzie if he is injury free or Gallagher and Shackell.

Etuhu, i cannot see any room for optomism in any of the other players we have that we dont rate at the moment. Hughes, Robinson, thorne are all crap. Etuhu showed signs at the end of last season of what he could do and could just do the business for us, lets hope so!

Also, if given a good run in the team Jurgen Colin might just settle in and look god. He is highly rated in holland and so obviously has the talent, his problem is adapting to the english game and settling into the country. He could well look good this season.

I also want colin to do well. Would love to see some of the younger ones shine through, maybe they will show worthy in pre season that they could be good enough. I doubt thorne will supply the goods but it will be good to see him battle for his place.

I don''t think Etuhu can be considered a suprise package if he performs next season - we all know what a top quality player he was for Preston so it should be expected of him.

Can''t see there being any suprise packages really which is a little depressing. Maybe Hughesy will bang in 15 goals for us next season?

i was thinking the other day what turned us in to the side that run away with the league three years ago,and it was of course hucks and two other key players,it wasnt a mass influx of players that did it but key players to complement the good team spirit we had going in key positions, after the drop from the prem we have pretty much turned the squad around, with only 2 or 3 players left from that old team,i feel team spirit is built not bought and adversity can bring this out in a team,it is my hope that we have narrowed down the base of the squad ,with a target man and wide right player to add then we may be surprissed by how much better this team competes compared to last year......just trying to get the possative vibes going man!

i hope old mickey spilane makes the cursed right back spot his own for the next ten years

Colin is a good call for this. A dark horse might be Ryan Jarvis. Hunter has worked with him at England level so should know him quite well and its about time he made his breakthrough.

I reckon Etuhu will prove a lot of doubters wrong - he does possess talent and ability (after all the Pinkun scouting network can''t be wrong, can it?), but it just didn''t seem to click for him last season.  Unfortunately I question whether he''ll get in the side, what with the might of Hughes and Robinson...

I really hope that one or two of youngsters step up this year.  It would be nice to Ryan Jarvis finally fulfil some of the potential we have heard so much about.  If he could play to a level for City like he does when I have seen him play for England then he could be a very good player.  Spillane also looked like he could progress to be a handy player this year.  If these two can make the step up to first-team football then it will be like signing two new players anyway.

Colin and Etuhu are still young(ish) and hopefully they will show why Premier League clubs were sniffing round them earlier in their careers.

I will point you to this post to get a reflection of Preston fans viewpoints on Etuhu </b>thumb.gif many of them from January 2005.

Lets hope he proves them and me wrong with some barnstorming performances.

Well, I''ll stay true to form and say something stupid.

I think, by this time next year, Hughes will be a NCFC hero much like the Doc''s transition from zero to hero.

And when I''m wrong, Paul can find this quote, copy and paste it and use it to make me look the fool I am!

Gonna buck the trend and go for a youngster, either Spillane to play a prominent role in the first team, or Jarvis Snr to grab a chance and shine up front. How about as a long shot Hendo to nail down the right midfield berth and make it his own..? (we can but hope that someone does, if we don''t get a specialist in...)

Whoever fills the right-back berth - be it a settled Colin or an up-and-coming Spillane. Although both face an impossible task of replacing Helveg...

I hope so Mook, I would take no pleasure in copying and pasteing your quote.  Suffice to say that he was a victim of the boo-boys at Reading before becoming the victim of boo-boys here.  Personally I beleive his headless Chicken way of playing does more harm than good to the shape and setup of the team.

IMO the Doc has found his level - he is no premiership player by a long shot.

Good question this.

I think that the right back spot is there for the taking. Colin has all the qualities like pace, aggression timing of a tackle and good going forward to be great, but his positioning has been suspect. If Hunter can work with him in training maybe he can correct his weak spot and he''ll be there.

If Louis-Jean gets fit he could be the surprise.

Etuhu will prove to be a good player IF he gets a regular game, but with Hughes and Robinson seemingly undroppable that''s a doubt.

And we know Leon can score goals at this level and if he gets enough time on the park we could easily have a twenty goal striker right there.

Henderson''s an outside bet too. I think he did well off the bench last year and the boo idiots are leaving him alone more now.

without dicko - he knows he failed to convince last season, and at preston - my guess is he''s worked his socks off in the close season and will come fired up and ready.  also, ryan jarvis is at the age now to impress at this level, if he and hendo can''t cut the mustard now, then they should be released to a league one side or preferably loaned out until they are at the required level?
