Evil Monkey 52 Posted June 21, 2006 ...and you could sign just one player from throughout the world, who would it be and why?Mine would be a tight decision between two players, with Rooney justmarginally losing out to Gerrard. He''s one of the best attackingmidfielders in the world, but can also play in any position across themiddle of the park, as well as supporting a striker. He gives hisall in every game, is a natural born leader, and is one of the fewplayers in the world who can pick up a game by the scruff of it''s neck- Istanbul 05 and Cardiff 06 being prime examples.Oh, and there''s the minor matter of him being comfortable on the ball, with a passing range and fluidity to his movement that would makeBrazillians drool. And he can hit a ball; hard!Perfect all-round player, and even avoids the celebrity limelight... To me it''s just a few short steps before he starts turning water into wine...... Trent Canary 0 Posted June 21, 2006 Id sign myself. And give me a big fat wage. But seriously, Ronaldinho, or perhaps Rooney due to his age and therefore his longevity (sp?).
Syteanric 1 Posted June 21, 2006 Paulo Maldini....Ability, Courage, Skill, good going forward... and above all Loyalty.. ok so he''s 2 old now.. but even 2 yars ago he''d was at his peak still... He''d be nigh on Unbeatable in Englandjas :)
macdougalls perm 0 Posted June 21, 2006 In our current predicament it would have to be Aaron Lennon or Shawn Wright Phillips - would love to have them on our right side.
Herb 0 Posted June 21, 2006 Rooney. Breathtaking player, and potentially will go down in history as the greatest player these islands have produced.Ronaldinho? Think he''d get found out in the Premiership (or more correctly get lumps kicked out of him!)
Tom NCFC 0 Posted June 21, 2006 Joe Cole, Currently England''s best player!!!
Carrow89 0 Posted June 21, 2006 I''d smash the world transfer record and sign Dean Ashton for around £100m.I''d use the sell on fee to build a decent team
ZLF 261 Posted June 22, 2006 The most impressive players seem to be Rooney, Ronaldinho & Riquelme. But anyone who can play right wing well would do nicely - from Carlos Edwards to Robben or Lennon
Jimaldinho 0 Posted June 22, 2006 For me it would have to be Rooney or Messi. Superb players for their age. Also may I add that Ronaldinho was never as good at their age.
Evil Monkey 52 Posted June 22, 2006 Ronaldinho is a great player, and it''s very easy to get mesmerised andfooled by his tricks and turns and his shooting. But what elsecan he really do? He drifts out of games when he''s not on the ball, hedoesn''t tackle or track back, he can''t win a game on his own...I think after this World Cup there will be a large number of playerswho have surpassed him in the view of most experts - Rooney, Gerrad,Riquelme - it''s only really the commentators who sit there creamingover him these days... Ginja 26 Posted June 22, 2006 Investing in a very young talented player would certainly be my choice, although maybe a gamble. Lennon would probably be a wise investment. Personnally one player is probably not enough for us.

Give me Kaka from the Brazil side anyday.

ZLF 261 Posted June 23, 2006 And rooney, lennon shevchencko ronaldo pele maradona etc etc etc have never had a set of games where they have been quiet?Watching Ronaldinho for Barca, PSG or Brazil over the last few years confirms he does have spells in games where he is quiet and games where he has less impact. However those games are in the minority and need to be set against games where he does have an impact, changes the course of the game and creates chance after chacne after chance. Not signing the goofy teethed one because he has had a quiet world cup is the same as not signing Henry; both would and continue to be awesome players wek in week out and improve any side they play in. blahblahblah 2 Posted June 23, 2006 Claude Makalele. Madrid won nothing since he left for Chelsea, who have won the Premiership since he arrived.
